Grab your swords, wine is coming. Yep, Melbourne is about to host a Game of Thrones-themed wine festival: Game of Rhones. Wildling winemakers will be galloping through Melbourne’s Meat Market this Saturday 10 June with horses and vino at the ready. Appropriately falling on Queens Birthday weekend, you really have no excuse not to get boozy.
Expect the great grape varieties of the Rhone Valley and over 100 wine tastings from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Vintners will be on-hand, hooking you up with Yarra Yering, Alkimi, Voyager Estate, Sutton Grange and Villa Maria, to name a few. None of this sniffing and spitting into silver buckets, Game of Rhones is bringing you wine in all its raw, quaffing glory.
Hunger savages, never fear, there’ll be plenty of tucker to keep you going. Fancy Hanks and Burn City Smokers are bringing their smokin’ array of barbeque meats, along with Mr Burger, Meat Smith and Yarra Valley Dairy.
Instead of binging another
season ep of Game of Thrones, it’s time to put on your best Jon Snow face and sip the tastes of the Rhone Valley.
Where: The Meat Market, 5 Blackwood St , Melbourne
