Empanadas to-go? Takeaway jamon y queso sandwiches? Asado-cooked lamb on your lunch break? Where do we sign and do you take cash...

Yep, Asado on Southbank just opened its takeaway arm, Asado To Go. All the flame-grilled glory of Asado...and it fits in your hand.

If you haven’t checked out Asado yet, it’s the latest venue from the team behind Pastuso, San Telmo and Palermo. Argentine meat, lots of cowhide everywhere, menus that moo. The works. Asado To Go will be more of the same, just in sandwich form. It'll be open for breakfast and lunch, Monday to Friday.

You’ll be able to get everything from Fresco sangers, stuffed with grilled chicken, Serrano ham or fresh Spanish queso, to asado-grilled rolls (from 11am). These are the Rolls Royce of Southbank sandwich: Lomito beef steaks with tomato, coz lettuce and horseradish mayo, or chorizo rolls with chimichurri and salsa criolla.

The new takeaway window will also be dishing up fried russet potatoes with garlic mayo (stop it), and lamb salads with pumpkin, mushroom and goats cheese. You can even get San Telmo’s famous alfajores cookies, oozing with housemade dulce de leche.

Today’s opening day, obviously, and the crew are giving away 200 FREE COFFEES for the first people to rock up this morning. All you need to do is follow @asadomelbourne on Instagram.
