One man's trash is another man's treasure, and this Saturday, October 26th, is the perfect time to put this adage to the test, as the third national Garage Sale Trail sweeps the garages, carparks and nature strips of our fair nation.
Been struggling to shake the vestiges of your new hubby's bachelor days? Now's the time to shift that 'hilarious' boob-endowed apron and foosball table, sister.
An idea hatched by two sustainably-minded mates back in Bondi in 2010, The Garage Sale Trail is now a national event, with a million items saved from landfill and 800,000 neighbourly meetings (let's call it stickybeaking) since its inception.
The Garage Sale Trail is founded on the ideas of:
Sustainability – by finding new homes for your pre-loved goods, or never-loved Christmas gifts from Aunty Ethel (rather than simply binning), you are doing good things for the environment. Pat. On. Back.
Community – now's the chance to actually meet the people who live on your street and in your suburb (or the fancy pants suburb next door if you want the REALLY good stuff).
Capitalism – who doesn't like making a few bucks on a lazy weekend?
The 2013 Garage Sale Trail is on Saturday, October 26th with sales held nationally.
Visit the website to read more, register your own sale, or plan which sales you're going to hit up.
