Presented by City of Melbourne, Melbourne Music Week (MMW) is an annual, nine-day party that brings audiences and artists together, celebrating our city’s rep as Australia's music capital (soz Sydney, you know it's true).
And today they dropped the big news—this year's Festival Hub is gonna be none other than ACMI in Fed Square. The first line-up details and event dates are also starting to emerge. So here's what we know so far.
JUST RELEASED! The first big MMW ’18 line-up announcement is in. This year, we're taking up residence at @acmionline – our official Hub – which will play host to a huge line-up of local and international acts. Also on the bill is You Am I, who will take on the Grand Organ at Melbourne Town Hall. Get your Early Bird tickets now via the link in our bio. #melbournemusicweek #MMW
Melbourne Music Week will run from 16 – 24 November. Gigs and sets will be popping up all over Melbourne, but consider ACMI the nerve centre of the whole thing. Over the week there'll be a bunch of free and ticketed events running there (you can check the full program here).
Australian LGBTIQ+ party professionals, Heaps Gay, will head up the coveted Opening Night Party, alongside a string of local DJs and performers (The Cocoa Butter Club, The Huxleys and Dandrogeny, to name a few). The night will be stuffed with music, dance, drag shows and performance across two separate stages till 4am.
The MMW Hub will also be hosting a bunch of other sets over the week, including Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills, Australian songstress Renée Geyer, a night of "dancefloor sorcery" feat. Rival Consoles and LEON VYNEHALL, plus a very mysterious Rice Is Nice label showcase.
