Heads Up, A NYC-Inspired Party Is Taking Over Melbourne

“I hate New York City”, said no one ever. Whether you’ve been 10 times, once, or it’s still firmly planted on your bucket list, there’s a lot to love about one of the world’s most iconic cities.

So, get ready because Melbourne Racing Club will be bringing the best of the Big Apple to Caulfield Racecourse over two weekends in October with the Stella Artois Caulfield Cup Carnival dedicated to the city and its many neighbourhoods.

Uptown

Get ready for Caulfield’s Fountain Lawn to transform into New York City’s iconic Central Park. Featuring a pop-up from one of New York's most iconic cafe brands and Petaluma Fashion Illustrators to illustrate your race day look (because photos are overrated). There’ll also be a Strongbow Blossom Rosé Bar, The Petaluma Wine Bar and Schweppes Cocktail bar so you can wash all the goodness down with a drink or two.

Midtown

Get lost in Times Square as The Empire Diner, Carlton Draught Block Party and Carlton Draught Tank Bar is turned on its head. Get ready for buzzing energy and bright lights boasting mouth-watering NYC-style food like burgers, NYC-style pizza by the slice, Rueben sandwiches and hot dogs along with roving musicians and street performers to create a palpable atmosphere. Oh, and let’s not forget the brewery fresh Carlton Draught beer.

Downtown

Taking inspiration from trendy downtown neighbourhoods Greenwich Village and Soho, Downtown NYC will feature an impressive showcase of fashion and food. Greenwich St, Menu By Shannon Bennett will be the place for food and wine connoisseurs this Stella Artois Caulfield Cup Carnival. Featuring a three-course menu curated by the award-winning chef, with wines by Treasury Wine Estates and Penfolds Grange available for purchase, don’t miss this incredible opportunity to wine, dine and experience racing in trackside luxury. Inspired by the world-class restaurants of downtown New York, and taking pride of place trackside on the home turn, Greenwich St, Menu By Shannon Bennett will satiate all of your senses this Carnival.

Brooklyn

Aptly hosting the MRC Young Members Jockey Club (with tickets open to the public and members), this place is a certified good time. Presented by Gordon’s Pink Gin and boasting a delicious menu by Tommy Collins, this will be the place to eat, drink and party trackside, with a cool boujee Brooklyn vibe. If you’re after a more laid back Brooklyn experience, head to The Local. Complete with premium beverages, private marquee, live entertainment and all-inclusive NYC street food, it’s a resounding yes from us.

The Hamptons

All sun-seekers should make a beeline for The Hamptons, AKA The Bondi Sands Surf Lodge. Complete with a pool deck and sponsored by Bondi Sands, there’s no better place to snap the perfect Instagram shot. With unbeatable views of the track, The Bondi Sands Surf Lodge gives you the best of both worlds.

No matter your vibe, there’s a neighbourhood for every kind of city slicker at this year’s Stella Artois Caulfield Cup Carnival.
