Live Out Your Wizarding Fantasies With This New Open-World Hogwarts Game

By Erin Curtain

If you’re like us, you spent most of the Naughties convincing yourself there was still a chance a Hogwarts acceptance letter would arrive in the mail. Well, we’re here to tell you that the time has finally arrived—you’re about to live out all your magical schooling fantasies.

Hogwarts Legacy is the wonder-infused, open-world, role-playing game set to hit the shelves on Friday, 10 February. Taking place in the late 1800s, you will be invited to become a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where you’ll step into the role of the spell-wielding student you always dreamed of being.

What exactly does this adventure entail? As a new student entering Hogwarts as a fifth-year student, your story is already shrouded in mystery. First, you’ll spend some time designing your customisable character to reflect your nature—a chance to express your courageous heart or lean into the darker side of your personality. From there, you’ll set off on a fantastical journey, make allies, discover magical secrets, cast spells, brew potions, fly broomsticks, tame and ride magical beasts—and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world as you know it.

Hogwarts Legacy

This game is about more than learning spells and facing magical foes. The open-world concept allows you to discover answers to the questions you’ve always had about Hogwarts and the world surrounding it. How big is the Forbidden Forest and what secrets lie on the other side? What will you find beyond Hogsmede, among the peaks of the surrounding mountains, in the deepest dungeons and the tallest towers of the school itself?

The developers have scoured the books and movies we know and love to find all of the mystical details that for so long have only lived in the imaginations of fans and have brought them to life with a bit of modern-day magic. Prepare to have your itching questions answered and all your fantastical dreams play out in crystal-clear PS5 resolution. And remember, your legacy is what you make of it.
