Black Star Pastry is at it again, this time with a limited edition cake inspired by the unmissable Rain Room.
It’s aptly titled the Rain Cake, and it’s the first in a series of desserts—or ‘art projects’—where the international cake authority will collaborate with artists and institutions to recreate edible adaptions of iconic works.
The Rain Cake is designed to reference the freshness of rain through scent and taste. It’s made from a matcha sponge base, layers of lime buttercream, caramelised apricot compote, lemon myrtle and peppermint sponge, a vein of finger lime jelly, and a white chocolate mousse dusted with lemon myrtle powder—there are even ‘raindrops’ atop the meticulously constructed masterpiece.
You can score yourself a slice or a four portion serve on pre-order when you buy your Rain Room tickets, or just head into the St Kilda Black Star Pastry store from this Saturday 5 December and pick up a slice on its own, or in their All-Star box.
