Get your drinking boots ready, because we are almost at that glorious time of the year where Oktoberfest gives us a genuine reason to drink the biggest beers you can possibly find.
This year, the heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building will play host to the Royal Melbourne Oktoberfest, the most traditional Oktoberfest event that has ever been held in Melbourne.
You better come prepared as there will be more than 50 different important German beers available on the day, and in an Australian first the event will feature each of the 6 Munich Oktoberfest Breweries and will have the most German beers under one roof anywhere in Australia.
You’re going to need some food to go with the copious amounts of beer you’ll be consuming, and there are no shortage of options. There will be plenty of German caterers serving up traditional dishes like pork hock, bratwurst along with other German sausages, to pretzels and German pastries.
Other things happening on the day include traditional German ‘oompah’ bands, stein and beer barrel races, yodellers and much more.
