Just hook it up to our veins: Prahran Market’s epic Say Cheese Festival is back this weekend for its fifth year running.
If you haven’t been to this thing before, it’s pretty much the highest cheese-per-square-metre density in the known universe—it would be hard to be cheesier without altering the fabric of space and time.
Here’s a brief rundown of what to expect. For starters, some of the city’s most iconic cheese dishes: Belleville’s truffled mac n’ cheese, cheesy gnocchi from 48H, fondue from Milk The Cow and cheese-inspired ice-cream creations from Christy Tania and her team at Glacé.
Of course, if you’re after the pure breeds, there’ll be a bunch of providores like That’s Amore, Tolpuddle Goat’s Cheese and Yarra Valley Dairy, slinging artisan cheeses from all over the county. The Omega by Neil Perry will also be hosting a number of cheese workshops and masterclasses throughout the day, if you want to brush up on the difference between Comte and Gouda.
Need more? How about an actual cheese-sculpting competition (yep, really) and summer cocktails, courtesy of The Prosecco Queen. Elizabeth St will be closing down to make way for market stalls, so look for parking elsewhere.
