Australia’s getting pretty into space lately, ICYMI. In July this year, we landed ourselves our very own Aussie space agency, and who better to help us celebrate than everyone’s favourite interactive museum: Scienceworks. Aaah, you can feel the nostalgia already.

This Saturday, Scienceworks is hosting the AstroLight Festival, and it's about and everything going on in the night sky. Unless Melbourne does a Melbourne on us and rains, you can assume stargazing is on the agenda.

As per usual at Scienceworks, you'll be able to check out the Planetarium and Lightening Shows. You’ll also the get the chance to do space-y VR experiences (including Opaque Space's multi-award winning game, Earthlight: Spacewalk), see your star sign constellation through a telescope, explore hands-on light and optics activities, and check out the new Above & Beyond exhibition.

Once you’re done manipulating light and space and time (and racing Cathy Freeman, like always), there’s a bunch of cool talks to check out. International Space Station Flight Controller Andrea Boyd and former astronaut trainer Dr Gail Iles will be discussing the future of human spaceflight.

Sneak peeks of the talks include space terms like ‘Spaghettification’ and ‘zebrafish fluoresce’. Colour us intrigued.
