Wouldn’t it be nice if the world was chocolate? Well, just when you thought your week couldn’t get any better, tomorrow is a day dedicated to the celebration of all things chocolate.
And wouldn’t you know it, some of Melbourne’s finest purveyors of sweet treats are putting on extra special events just for this monumental day.
So, here’s everything that’s happening in Melbourne for World Chocolate Day.
Rather than just celebrating a day, South Melbourne staple Bibelot has been celebrating all week with the introduction of their Délice de Chocolat—a delicate creation which features a cocoa nib biscuit, pecan sponge, bourbon cremeux, dark chocolate mousse, 70% dark chocolate namelaka, pecan crumble and an apricot gel. If that’s not enough of a mouthful for you, we don’t know what is. If you can’t choose they’re also offering a complete chocolate gourmandise board that has something for everyone.
Wilson & Market
The newly opened Wilson & Market are getting into the chocolatey spirit by teaming up with Hunted & Gathered to create 3 decadent desserts that are all served at once—sounds ideal!
You’ll get a chocolate waffle doughnut with chestnut Chantilly, spiced wine quinces with 70% cacao chocolate mousse, and a 24 carat gold leaf salted caramel chocolate nemesis—it’s all priced at $30, and will be totally worth your while.
A stroll down Southbank wouldn’t be complete without indulging in desserts at Melba inside the Langham Hotel. Once you stop staring at the Lindt chocolate fountain, you’ll find delights such as the warm chocolate naan, chocolate truffle torte, white chocolate and raspberry mousse cake, Valrhona 66% chocolate mousse, hazelnut chocolate tartlet with caramel crispies, as well as a Cadbury candy chocolate bar. May as well try one of each.
Fancy some chocolate for free? Well, you’re in luck because Cadbury (with the help of Olympian Dylan Alcott) will be handing out FREE chocolate! Try one of their new flavours like Mega Crunchie or Crazy 4 Caramel. It’s all happening at the Federation Square River Rink on River Terrace from 11am – 2pm or while stocks last.
