The verdict

The name of Richmond's Meatmother should leave you in no doubt as to their intentions. Tofu lovers beware…  At Meatmother, it's all about the smoky BBQ action, and the meat dishes doled up here have often been on the go for up to 12 hours before they reach your plate. Which seems a shame really, considering how quickly you'll scoff them.

Foodwise, take your pick. 12-hour smoked brisket, fried chicken buns topped with watermelon slaw and hot sauce, even burnt ends with fried shallots and horseradish. Just make sure to save room for dessert: they do a wicked peanut butter and hot fudge sundae.
