Congratulations! Grab yourself a drink, because you can safely and proudly say that you have made it through January. With warm and welcoming arms, February is here to take the place of January and all that #newyearnewme crap.

With a smorgasbord of top-notch activities and events to get stuck into, this month is certainly floating our boat.

If you think that February is all about Valentines and lovey dovey, PDA nonsense, then it’s time to think again. This month there’s music festivals, a meat festival and one of the hottest social events of the year. Start planning because here are 20 fantastic things to do in Auckland this February!

Sir David Attenborough | 1st & 2nd February

He’s everyone’s favourite, with a voice as smooth as silk and a passion for the animal kingdom that warms even the coldest of hearts. That’s right, this February is your chance to see Sir David Attenborough in all his glory. Head along to The Civic and listen to the main man talk about his lengthy career and his impact on the natural world today. We are beyond jealous of anyone who has bagged a ticket to this prestigious event.

Shakespeare in the Park | 1st - 11th February

Catch live performances of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ and ‘Love Labours Lost’, outdoors in Auckland’s, The Pumphouse Amphitheatre, this February. With Daylight Savings on their side, Shoreside Theatre stay as true to the original text and play as possible, performing these stellar shows, as the sun sets behind.

Panic! At The Disco | 2nd February

Dig out your guy-liner, fasten your wallet to your jeans with a bicycle chain and get ready to relive your emo phase as Panic! At The Disco is coming to town! Join Brendon and the rest of the band as they perform hits such as ‘Nine In The Afternoon’ and ‘I Write Sins Not Tragedies’ to a head-banging crowd at Vector Arena.

Guns N’ Roses | 4th February

The boys are back in town, as the gang regroup for one of the biggest reunions of the century. Axl, Slash and Duff will rock Auckland’s socks off at Western Springs, as they perform their biggest hits for lucky punters. Get ready to belt out ‘Sweet Child O’Mine’ and ‘November Rain’ as you head-bang and lose your s**t to the sweet sounds of Guns N’ Roses.

If you’d like to brush up on your wine knowledge or would just like to have an enjoyable evening with friends, tasting and learning about a great selection of wines, then Meet The Wine Maker Tasting Night is for you! Ever wanted to eavesdrop on someone else’s first date? Yeah, us too. Bringing her critically acclaimed show to Basement Theatre this month, Bron Batten is willing to bare all for her live audiences. She will delve deep into dating rituals, all with a willing volunteer. Expect a lot of laughs, genuine reactions and a whole lotta ‘romance’. You don’t want to miss out.

Night Noodle Markets at Auckland Lantern Festival | 9th - 12th February

The Night Noodle Markets are back and this time they are partnering with Auckland Lantern Festival. Enjoy authentic delights and street-style dishes from some of the best Asian cuisine in the city. The North West Food & Wine & Beer Festival | 11th February

In just a 30-minute drive, you could be in lush surroundings, listening to the sweet sounds of Trinity Roots and Dave Dobbyn while sipping on some of the best wine and beer around and feasting on some tasty treats. Sound good? Thought so. The North West Food & Wine & Beer Festival is a one-day boutique festival that plans to be nothing short of spectacular and a fantastic summer’s day out for all.

The Princess Bride, Silo Park | 14th February

Spanning three days and boasting a stellar line-up of all things creative, colourful and crazy, Splore continues to attract visitors far and wide to its magnificent, summer festival. With live music, workshops, performances and the infamous Saturday night dress-up bonanza, it truly makes for an unforgettable and mesmerising experience!

Sounds of Summer | 18th February

Whether you’re into your funk, house, soul, old school r n’ b or just love a good old boogie, then listen up. Commons Complex Takapuna Beach are back for another year of Sounds of Summer and it promises to be even bigger and better than last year. With food, drink and a whole lotta summer fun, you don’t wanna be anywhere else this February.

Land Rover Polo | 19th February

With the opportunity to dress to impress, head along to Clevedon to watch three thrilling games of polo and enjoy a day of drinking the fizzy stuff with your friends. Let’s just say, the Land Rover Polo is an event pretty hard to say no to. Auckland Fringe Festival | 21st February - 12th March

Auckland Fringe Festival is back! Promising more pizazz and excitement than the last, this line-up will hit you like a steam train! Think comedy, cabaret, dance, theatre, puppetry and much, much more. With stellar acts and performers taking to the many venues and stages, you’ll be able to catch a show at a place near you.

Heineken Urban Polo | 25th February

Meatstock | 25th - 26th February

If you’re a fan of all things barbecues, bourbon, bands, beards, butchers, barbers and of most importantly beer, Meatstock is the festival for you this summer. Taking place at the ASB Showgrounds and featuring all of the above, plus live demos, food trucks and workshops, this is a meat-lovers’ dream!

Elvis In The Gardens | 26th February

Back for its eighth year, Elvis In The Gardens returns to Auckland’s Botanic Gardens this February.  Enjoy six whole hours of live music and performances from the world-renowned, Elvis Tribute Band. Soak in the luscious and lovely surroundings of the Botanic Gardens as you sing along to some of the King of Pop’s biggest anthems. 

Aperol Spritz Pop-Up Bar | All Month

Throughout the month of February, Ostro’s stunning Deck is set to transform into a pop-up Aperol Spritz bar. Overlooking Britomart and beyond, the venue will resemble a classic Italian summer setting—a nod to Aperol’s origins. Visit on a Sunday arvo for their Sunset Sessions that are all about sweet tunes, good vibes and—of course—the iconic bright orange aperitif we all know and love.
