21 Marvellous Things To Do This March

Although the start of March officially marks the end of summer—wait, what summer? Damn you, Auckland—it doesn’t mean the fun has to end, no, no! Trust us, the fun has only just begun! With an incredible international line-up of artists and bands and, whether you’re into rock or pop, your ears (and eyes—hello Biebs!) will be thankful! Add in a host of festivals and events and you’ve got yourself one heck of a March to go mad for!

Tinie Tempah and Kid Ink | 1 March

‘Labrinth come in!’ Well, Auckland, you might wanna come in too, as Tinie Tempah is coming to Auckland this month, bringing US superstar, Kid Ink with him! With hits such as ‘Pass Out’, ‘Girls Like’ and ‘Written In The Stars’, Mr Tempah will no doubt get you singing and dancing in no time. Don’t forget about Kid Ink either, as this hip-hop god is notorious for sending the crowd wild!

Killswitch Engage | 1 March

Auckland, are you ready to rock?! It’s time to perfect that head-bang and those mosh survival skills, as American metalcore band Killswitch Engage are coming to our shores! With knock-out hits such as ‘In Due Time’, ‘Time Will Not Remain’ and ‘Holy Diver’ in their archive, fans of the group are in for one hell of a ride!

The Oyster Festival | 1—31 March

For some, they are a decadent slurp-worthy snack, for others they are the ultimate aphrodisiac and for some, it can simply cause mollusc madness. Oysters are a much-loved treat and we’re so excited about the Oyster Festival set to hit Auckalnd this March. With daily oyster deals making appearances at some of Auckland’s top seafood eateries, fans of the fishy food, are in for a treat!

Pop Up Globe | 1—31 March

Back by popular demand, the Pop Up Globe is returning to Auckland and this time with a new theatre design, four new productions of Shakespeare’s works and an expected, phenomenal uptake on tickets! For a completely unique event and a time-travelling theatre experience, join the fantastic cast as they take you back to the Elizabethan age, complete with song, dance and performance!

Auckland Coffee Festival | 4 March

Are you crazy about caffeine? Are you bonkers about beans? Are you never without a good ol’ cup o’ Joe in hand? If you answered yes, yes, and yes then you must click ‘attending’ to Auckland’s Coffee Festival! With roasters, live demo’s, sampling and much, much more, attendees are in for a brew-tiful treat!

Crap Music Rave Party | 4 March

Okay, so a title of ‘Crap Music Rave Party’ could cause confusion. However, don’t be put off, this party phenomenon has been taking the world by storm. Tomas Ford is bringing back all the cringe-worthy floor bangers for your guilty-pleasure, pleasure. Expect to hear the likes of Limp Bizkit, Savage Garden, Shania Twain and the rest of the gang!

Auckland Cup Week Vodafone Derby Day | 4 March

Join in for a day of all things glitz, glam and of course, racing, as Ellerslie Racecourse presents Auckland Cup Week, Vodafone Derby Day! With an array of hospitality options to choose from and with a focus on fashion, top-notch entertainment, nail-biting racing and stellar hospitality on hand, punters will no doubt have a fabulous day and hopefully leave with a few extra bucks!

Mardi Gras At Orleans | 4 March

What do you get when you throw together dancing, performers, Cajun and Creole New Orleans-inspired food and a pie eating contest? Mardi Gras of course! Okay, so the pie eating contest may seem a little left field, but we aren’t complaining! Orleans are bringing Mardi Gras back to Auckland and if you like to party and eat, then this is the event for you!

Ports of Auckland Round The Bays | 5 March

Whether you walk, run, jog or skip, lace up your trainers and don those sweatbands for 2017’s Ports of Auckland, Round The Bays! It’s one of New Zealand’s biggest fun runs and attracts around 30,000 participants, all eager to complete the 8.4km run around the water. Suitable for all ages and with hopeful sunny weather, this is a fun-tastic, family event.

Auckland Arts Festival | 8—26 March

Once again, Auckland will become alight with sound, comedy, talent and a host of spell-binding performances and shows. Auckland Arts Festival is back and boasting a line-up of all things incredible! With shows such as ‘The Colenso Season Of La Soiree’ and ‘Horror’ amongst glow in the dark bush walk, ‘Power Plant’, this is a true delight to the senses!

Diplo | 9 March

Dance sensation Diplo will take to the Logan Campbell Centre this March and, if you’re a fan of all things electronic, you’ll want to be here! With more hit collaborations under his belt than most, Diplo is guaranteed to get you on your feet and have you belting out the likes of ‘Cold Water’, ‘Lean  On’ and ‘Light It Up’ in minutes!

Pixies | 11 March

Arguably one of the worlds best alternative rock bands and continuing to amaze adoring crowds worldwide, Pixies are hitting Auckland for one show only at Vector Arena, this March. Following previously sold-out shows in 2010, it’s expected to sell like hotcakes and it’s certainly no surprise! You’ll find us belting out ‘Where Is My Mind’ on the front row!

The Colour Run | 12 March

It’s literally the most colourful event of the year and you could become a piece of this incredible piece of moving art! The Colour Run is coming to Auckland to take your normal day-to-day jog from zero to one hundred! Take to the track as a clean, human being and get ready to leave looking like an abstract painting. It’s fun, it’s certainly colourful and it beats hitting the gym!

Justin Bieber | 18 March

Someone pass us a chair and a glass of water. He’s here and we still can’t believe it. That’s right, the Biebs is coming back to bless us with his presence, stifling good looks and melt-worthy vocal cords. Not only will the lucky, lucky patrons get to breathe the same air as Justin, they will also get to reenact the entire routine of ‘Sorry’. We haven’t been practising, promise.

Le Ball Beau Joie Masquerade Ball | 18 March

Thought that masquerade balls were just for Taylor Swift music videos or a Romeo and Juliet spin off? Think again! Don your most seductive and secretive mask and get ready to dance the night away like the true Queen or King you are. With entertainment and food and drink only worthy for Lords and Ladies, this event is a prestigious one at that!

Gibbs Farm Sculpture Walk | 23 March

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for Aucklanders. Gibbs Farm is opening its doors to the public for one day of wander and marvel. Journey into the vast lands to discover giant sized sculptures and works from 27 international sculptors, while overlooking the stunning Kaipara Harbour.

Adele | 23—26 March

Hello, it’s me. Well, it’s The Urban List, but you get where we are going with this. Yup, worldwide sensation Adele is coming to Auckland for three shows! She’s got one of the most powerful voices on the planet and continues to blow us away with hits such as ‘Hello’, ‘Someone Like You’ and ‘Set Fire To The Rain’. For a once in a lifetime chance to see her perform live, beg, borrow, steal, we won’t tell, you must get a ticket!

Maala | 24 March

He recently won best male artist at the Tui awards and we certainly aren’t surprised. Maala has quickly become one of the most talked about artists in New Zealand and has sold out every single solo show he has played. With hit album composure dominating the airwaves, his recent single release is sure to do the same. These tickets will sell fast!

Twenty One Pilots | 25 March

Musical rock duo, Twenty One Pilots are hitting NZ shores once again and we couldn’t be happier! With their infectious anthems, Vector Arena is set to be a complete rock haven on the night of the 25th! Following on from an energetic World tour, the boys don’t show any signs of mellowing out for NZ. Are you ready to rock, Auckland?!

General Collective Market | 26 March

If you haven’t yet been to a General Collective Market, you’ve seriously been missing out. Okay, we’ll let you off, as long as you promise to get yourself over there this March! Back in Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds and with over 250 stalls of gifts, food, hand-made goodies and more, this is a family fun event that can’t and shouldn’t be missed!

The Fashion Sessions 2017 | 29 March—1 April

Four days, eight events, a host of NZ’s top designers and more sassy strutting than you could possibly imagine! That’s right, The Fashion Sessions are back and promising even more activity and amazement than before. With runways, lunches, men’s evenings, makeup and plenty of fashion (of course!) visitors are in for a treat, to say the least!
