Happy happy Monday, Aucklanders! This week, the Comedy Festival is in full swing, we’ve got some pop jazz, margarita lessons and sport for you to enjoy.

Monday 2nd May

SKYCITY Mystics vs Adelaide Thunderbirds | The Trusts Arena

Get behind the legendary Maria Tutaia and the SKYCITY Mystics as they take on the Adelaide Thunderbirds tonight at Henderson’s The Trusts Arena. It promises to be an epic game, with some of New Zealand’s top players, including Kayla Cullen and Catherine Latu, as well as the league’s tallest player, Megan Craig (six foot eight, people!), battling it against the Ozzies. Tuesday 3rd May

Pop Jazz | Multiple Locations

Students and graduates of the University of Auckland’s Jazz Programme will hit various locations across the CBD for the public to enjoy.  Since 1999, the programme has produced some of New Zealand’s finest professional musicians and contributed to Auckland’s vibrancy and character.  See them at lower Queen St, Quay St and K Road and Pitt St.

Wednesday 4th May

Rudimental | Vector Arena

UK four-piece band Rudimental plays this Wednesday at Vector Arena. They’ll be joined by fellow Brit, Jess Glynne. The group have celebrated success since the release of their We The Generation last year—even scoring a support spot on Ed Sheeran’s Australian and New Zealand tour, which saw them perform to more than 250,000 people.  Head along for a great night of tunes from this drum and bass band. Wednesday 4th May

E TU | Te Pou

Head to the home of Maori theatre, Te Pou, in New Lynn for a kick-ass line up of both local and international comedians.  Hosted by Nick Rado, performers include the dark and strange Angella Dravid, the Frickin Dangerous Bro’s, James Nokise, Khaled Kalafalla, Nish Kumar and last but certainly not least, our fave, Rose Matafeo. Head along for all the lolz.

Thursday 5th May

Margarita Masterclass

Mexico is celebrating Cinco de Mayo in true swigging fashion with a Margarita Masterclass. Guests will be taught how to make this Mexican bevvy—no need for consumption lessons. A visit to this Britomart hotspot wouldn’t be the same without the Mexico team serving up their delicious fare. Whether you’re flying solo, in a group, on a date, an expert or an amateur, this is the night for you.
