Auckland's Best Hotel Bars

There’s just something about grabbing a martini or cocktail at a hotel bar that makes you feel so luxe and posh. The bustling lobby, guests with a background and agenda of pure mystery and cliché hotel music just adds to the bougie vibe that we all love. Auckland has a wide selection of gorgeous hotels but we think hotel bars are another game that needs to be explored.

Without further ado, here's where to find the best hotel bars in Auckland.

Hotel DeBrett

Hotel DeBrett on High Street has not only one but two bars on offer. One of them is the renowned Corner Bar that most Aucklanders have visited for after-work drinks but Housebar really gives us something unique and different. Located within the hotel, away from the bustling streets of the CBD is where you can enjoy a relaxed and tranquil ambience in a dark and intimate room. An eclectic mix of classic of modern is not only seen in their deco but also their drinks menu. They do the traditional cocktails like espresso martini, whiskey sour and mojito as well as more contemporary options like a honey avocado margarita!

Bellini Bar

The Hilton

Within one of Auckland’s best hotels, The Hilton, is Bellini Bar serving up a wide selection of wine, cocktails and whiskey in their luxurious fit out. The cocktails at Bellini are like no other. To give you an idea of one of their many creations is the Pink Truffle Cocktail which is Galliano Vanilla, white peach puree, rose water, Prosecco Rose and garnished with beautiful rose petals. Just a heads up, that’s just one of the drinks on their 12 paged cocktail menu so be prepared to be overwhelmed with choice! Our go-to is the classic espresso martini paired with the Opera Cake, a chocolatey cake with a coffee aroma cream filling in between the layers. Not only are the food and drinks delicious, Bellini Bar is literally on the water, with spectacular views over the sparkling Waitemata Harbour.

The Lobby Lounge

Cordis Hotel

Elegant and extravagant are just a couple of words to explain The Lobby Lounge at the Cordis Hotel. From the sparkling chandelier to the plush, baby blue seating that resembles the colour scheme of Tiffany & Co, The Lobby Lounge is sophisticated and therefore one of the best hotel bars in Auckland. While you indulge on some sweet treats from their high tea selection, swap out your coffee or tea with a glass of champagne and you’ll feel like you’re living your best life.

Sabrage Bar

The Sofitel

Situated within the newest hotel on the block – The Sofitel is Sabrage Bar, glistening with an all-glass interior. Being located in the lobby, this bar doesn’t only provide scenic views of the Marina and iconic Sky Tower but is also the ideal location to do some good old people watching. With a drinks menu with a list of classics that can do no wrong, artisan cheese selection and freshly shucked oysters, Sabrage Bar is where you should go if you’re wanting the premium wining and dining hotel experience.

Knights Lobby Bar

Stamford Plaza

Knights Lobby Bar is situated in one of the best hotels in Auckland so it’s inevitable that the lobby bar will be just as great. The fit out is posh and stylish and the environment is calm, poise and oh so classy and not to mention, the service is exceptional. Grab their infamous Cookies & Cream cocktail which is a mixture of Baileys, chocolate, cream and topped with cookie crumble and spiked with hazelnut liqueur. They also do a Singaporean inspired menu which isn’t so common for bars in Auckland, their beef satay skewers are a must!

Beast & Butterflies

M Social

Opened quite recently and already making waves of popularity with their fine dining restaurant and bar, Beast & Butterflies. The menu is Asian inspired with a mix of Pasifika fusion and it truly is a one of a kind. The interior is crisp and clean as the drinks menu are all damn tasty with food to elevate the entire experience. The Korean fried chicken with sweet and spicy sticky sauce is not to be missed and paired with a tap beer is a combo that is sent from the Gods. In fact, it’s a pair that is so famous and loved, Koreans have coined a special word for it—chimek! Chi for chicken and mek for mekchu (Korean word for beer).

Quite the opposite to the other bars that are ideal for unwinding and relaxing, Twentyone provides live music from killer DJ’s and interactive bartenders to keep you entertained. Many Aucklanders choose to end their night here as it’s on that perfect level in between a lounge for resting and a club for dancing. So round up your group of friends, grab a table, get a drink and never forget to order up their hot wings as they are a Twentyone staple! We know this is quite off topic but it has to be said, their bathroom is amazing, just go even if you don’t have to.
