A little piece of Paris has made its way to the Shore, and we couldn’t be more psyched. Welcome to So French, a fantastic cafe + deli that’s set to be the talk of the town.
All you have to do is follow the sweet smell of freshly made crêpes wafting down Hurstmere Rd. Inside is a fit-out that’ll take you straight to France.
A unique cafe, deli and patisserie hybrid, So French ticks a lot of our favourite (carb-filled) boxes. Owner Alexis, along with business partner and crêpe master Valerie, have collab'd to create one of Auckland's best French eateries.
With a quick glance at the menu, you’ll see a hybrid of traditional French delights and kiwi classics. Think omelettes, soups and burgers, not to mention crêpes galore. Our top pick was defs the Alpine burger: an outstanding Wagyu beef patty, topped with oozing Tomme de Savoie cheese, confit onions, salad and tomatoes, all encased in a brioche bun. YUM.
Or you can go for the boeuf bourguignon and tagliatelles, slow-cooked overnight in red wine to perfection—one taste of this bad boy and you'll be planning a second visit. On the go? Opt for the gorgeous (and totally addictive) pie instead. Just think, the same perfectly cooked beef swimming in gravy all encased inside a parcel of golden flakey crunchy pastry. Drooling yet?
You didn’t think we’d forget the sweet treats, did you? So French is serving up some of the best crêpes in town. With both sweet and savoury to choose from, you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice. We tried the banana split crêpe and boy oh boy were we satisfied. Topped with banana, ice cream, nuts and a chocolate swirl, just one bite took us straight to our happy place.
The more you look around So French, the more you’ll find. From a jam-packed cabinet stocked with fresh rotating salads, house-made pies and their own twist on the traditional cassoulet, to the dedicated patisserie, don’t miss a chance to try classic treats like canelé, finnancio, madeleines and the addictive fondant aux chocolat.
Authentic and utterly brilliant, pay So French a visit ASAP and discover the awesomeness for yourself.
