Foodies, prick your ears and bulk up your appetites because the month we’ve all been waiting for is here. August’s Restaurant Month is set to bring a jam-packed calendar of food-centric events to Auckland and, to make the most out of these glorious 31 days, there are a few things you should know. 

Here is your ultimate guide to Restaurant Month in Auckland. Eat ALL the food!

100+ Dining Offers At 100+ Restaurants 

You read that correctly. More than 100 top-notch Auckland City restaurants will be participating in Restaurant Month with delish lunch and dinner menus that won’t break the bank. The likes of Odettes, Ebisu, Orleans, Gusto at the Grand, Ortolana, Depot and MASU (plus a bunch of other awesome eateries) will be offering menus at three prices: $25, $40 and $55. Our Federal Street Faves Are Joining Forces 

Some of Auckland’s best restaurants live on Federal Street and during Restaurant Month, they’re coming together for A Taste of Federal Street. Sean Connolly of The Grill will kick things off with salt and pepper King Crab before MASU’s Nic Watt wows via crispy pork belly, mustard miso and roasted nori. The third course of wild hare fillet with quince will be tackled by the one and only Al Brown from Depot and last but not least, The Sugar Club’s Neil Brazier and his peanut butter parfait will end things on a sweet note. Wine And Dine At The Best Of The Best 

If FISH, Harbourside, Gusto at the Grand and Clooney have been on your hit list, Restaurant Month is the time to visit them. Raise the Bar, an event held at some of Auckland’s finest restaurants will give you the chance to enjoy a perfectly executed dish with a wine match. And the best thing about it? It will only set you back 25 bux! Opt for a fried oyster sandwich and chardonnay at Soul Bar & Bistro or get amongst a bruschetta tasting board and Pinot Grigio at Gusto at the Grand. Learn How To Make Something Out Of Nothing 

Ah, the old “there’s nothing to make for dinner dilemma.” The food hacking duo from The Cult Project, Will and Carlo (formerly of Matterhorn) are set to conjure up an impressive Nothing for Dinner three-course dinner alongside Kiwi Harvest and wholefood hub, Misters Real Food. Experience Food From World-Renowned Chefs 

You might never get the chance to dine at LA, Sydney and Melbourne’s top restaurants but during Restaurant Month, the chefs are coming to you! The Chef Dining Series every Wednesday will see top chefs unleash their culinary brilliance on Auckland. Matt Wilkinson of Melbourne’s Pope Joan is teaming up with Odettes’ Josh Kucharik to unveil a preview of Pope Joan’s new menu via 12 courses, while Barbados-born Sydney chef Paul Carmichael of Japanese restaurant Momofuku is stepping into the kitchen with The Grove’s Michael Dearth. You’ll also find Melbourne restaurant legend and TV personality Guy Grossi with Josh Emett, and awarded American chef Nancy Silverton is embarking on a sharing style menu with Chris Law of Soul Bar. Learn From The Best At The Social Kitchen Theatre 

Get up close and personal with some of the best international and Kiwi chefs at Fisher & Paykel’s Social Kitchen Theatre. This series of pop-up experiences is hosted by Kelly Gibney of Bonnie Delicious and will include interactive demos, complimentary samples, insider tips and great spot prizes. Participate in the master classes or drop by the free session to learn how to make tacos, dumplings and what to do with fresh produce. 

Eat Dinner In The Dark 

Dining in the dark has skyrocket over the years and now, it’s coming to A-town. Feast on a three-course meal at Vivace in complete and utter darkness—your senses won’t know what to do with themselves. Check out all the details here

Restaurant Month isn’t all about fancy restaurants. Head to Street Eats at Shed 10 for a myriad of tasty cuisines (think Indian, Spanish, Vietnamese and so much more) or lock in spot at Besos Lantinos’ Brazilian Long Lunch. Italian more your thing?
