Lusting for those seamlessly blended, wavy locks you see all over Instagram? Amiee Marie is your girl. Working out of her boutique studio in Beach Haven, Amiee specialises in blonde and balayage, and the proof is in the pudding. Her gram is dotted with her natural, healthy looking hair creations, which you swear could have been pulled out of the depths of Pinterest. Amiee's studio is open based on appointments and can often be booked out weeks in advanced so get in early!
Embra
It's been a hot minute since we had anything served to us beneath a cloche. At Embra, however, presentation is paramount so that means yes, you may encounter the occasional cloche—or perhaps shellfish bisque topped with an entire crab, albacore tuna tartare buried beneath rye crumbs and enoki mushrooms to mimic a garden, black-and-white-striped squid cannelloni, and pithiviers so beautiful, they wouldn't look out of place on the royal dining tables of old (see picture, above). We believe the proper term for this kind of cuisine is 'fine dining on steroids'.
Londo
We're a sucker for a pretty cocktail, which means we're in big trouble when we visit Londo—because this spot has pretty cocktails coming out of its proverbial ears. Think ruby-hued clover clubs, whiskey sours the colour of sunshine and a strawberry tequila fizz that's dangerously reminiscent of the ice cream floats of our youth.
Mr. Brightside Rooftop Bar
Mr. Brightside invites you to come out of your cage and look on the bright side of life at their rooftop bar. Located at the heart of the city in Oxford Terrace, this penthouse-style bar is perched on top of the iconic Public Trust Building. With panoramic 360 views of the city, your troubles melt away as you gaze out at Port Hills, the Avon River, Cathedral Square and at the snowcapped mountains in the distance. The bar is covered with a retractable roof, making it the perfect spot to catch some rays while enjoying some tipple in the warmer months.
Bar Yoku
Paying homage to Japanese izakaya bars, Bar Yoku offers sanctuary at the end of a busy work day. Named after the term shinrin-yoku, meaning "taking in the forest atmosphere", this urban bar invites you to retreat into its dim settings or internal garden and soak in its exotic environment while still being inside The Welder, at the heart of Christchurch.

Well now they've opened a shop on Cavendish Drive in Manukau, and it's everything you'd expect it to be and more. Prepare for serious circus vibes as you step right up into a glorious yellow space complete with strings of glowing lights and a merry-go-round inspired central counter.

Urban Soul is, in our opinion, quite the place to be in Manukau. There’s a plentiful morning menu full of tasty dishes that are sure to help you kick your day off just right.
