11 Epic Things To Do In Perth This Weekend

The mornings are getting a little cooler and we’ve just had a week of rain… but that doesn’t mean you should be stuck inside all weekend.

Why? Cos there's heaps to do! Like go see some art, laugh your head off at some comedy, peruse some markets and make like Nonna and get your Italian on.

Here's 11 epic things to do in Perth this weekend!

Friday 15 April


Tomorrow night is the opening of Ric Spencer’s brand new exhibition titled ‘Between You And I’. This new solo exhibition is a painting and drawing-based collection of pieces that were instigated by recent surges in demonstration, protest and the democratic use of public space. Inspired by his walks around Fremantle, head down to see his show this weekend and see what he has created.

Start your weekend off with a bang on Friday with some LOL’s at Scarborough’s Comedy Shack. Featuring Matt Dyktynski and MC Ben Darsow—who was nominated for Best Comedy act at Fringeworld 2016—it’s safe to say your cheeks will be hurting the next day.

One of WA’s best-kept festival secrets, the annual Fairbridge Festival is back! Over 100 international and Australian acts will grace the stage all weekend, plus there will be markets, lifestyle workshops and of course heaps of food and bevvies. See you down there!

Saturday 16 April


Nail and Feral Brewing Co face off to the death this Saturday night… well, until someone runs out of beer anyway. Starting on Saturday arvo, a river cruise on Perth’s famous paddle steamer will be taking place, where the boys from the two breweries will be taking you on a three-hour journey down the Swan in order to win the bragging rights of best brew. There will be $5 middies, a DJ and food for dayzz…. What more could you ask for?

Swing dancing and storm troopers collide at this funtastical event at Northbridge Piazza as part of Innovation Month. Oz Big Band will provide the swinging Star Wars Cantina inspired tunes and there will be a free dance lesson at 7pm, themed performances and face painting. Back for its second year, Fresh Prints is a market fair for independent publishers, small press, artist books, comic books and everything in between. Running as part of City of Perth's Innovation Month, the market will feature over 40 stalls by Perth creatives, as well as creative workshops and storytelling sessions for the little ones. Check out the event website for session times and head down this Saturday arvo to enjoy all things ink and paper.

Sunday 17 April


This one is for all you cultural babies out there! This weekend it is Buddha’s birthday and to celebrate, there will be a two-day multicultural festival this Saturday and Sunday at Langley Park. There will be the Bathing of the Buddha Ritual, blessings, multicultural performances, meditation, Chinese dragons, tea appreciation (yaassss!), food stalls for days and even a fireworks display later in the night.

We are sooo excited for this Sunday! The biggest and baddest Italian food festival is coming to Fremantle and we already have our stretchy pants on in anticipation. We’re talking homemade food from all the ‘nonnas’, live music, local wine, Italian beer and everything else traditionally Italian. Saluti!
