An Easter treat available this long weekend in Perth

The Easter long weekend is here, and if the number of hot cross buns we're stuffing down is anything to go by, we’re more than ready to embrace the holiday vibes.

We've tracked down your long weekend heaping of good times, from markets and high tea to good booze and endless bites. Here are the best things to do this Easter long weekend in Perth.

Thursday 28 March

South Of The Border Takeover

We get it, if you live north of the river it's a real slog (and a very expensive Uber) to get to South Freo's most iconic Mexican taqueria, La Cabaña. There'll be no excuses now, though, because the crew behind some of Perth's finest tacos, ceviche and spicy margaritas are bringing the Latin American heat to the big smoke—taking over Crush in the CBD for a series of super special collab dinners. For $65, you'll get a canape course and sangrita, followed by a four-course share-style feast, with a rotating menu each week. La Cabana's signature cocktails will be available for purchase too. Limited seats are still available for this Thursday at 6pm, so get booking.

Douzaine Closing Party

Our beloved little Freo oyster pop-up is shucking its last shells this weekend. And to ensure it's a celebratory send off, they'll be slinging wine and beer (no BYO), with DJs and a dance floor too. If you've slept on this gorg little gem, this is your last chance to visit. Doors open at 5pm, with oysters on for the first few hours.

Friday 29 March

Good Friday Bottomless Brunch

The Aviary has given its iconic bottomless a full-on Easter upgrade. We're talking three whole hours of free-flowing drinks, including one of their indulgent eggspresso martinis to start you off, plus a share-style brunch for $120pp.

Fish And Chips By The Sea

There's really no better way to celebrate the Easter long weekend than by tucking into a big old fish and chip parcel on the beach. Pack the picnic blanket and head to the City Beach foreshore to pick up the goods, with both Odyssea and Clancy's Fish Pub cranking out takeaway fish and chips from 4pm til sunset on Good Friday. The Junkadelic Brass Band will also be there to keep the vibes high between mouthfuls of vinegar soaked chippies. You can pre-order from either Odyssea's or Clancy's websites or just line up at the dedicated kiosk Friday arvo.

Saturday 30 March

Italo Dego Disco

Dilly Dally and Bar Loiter are hosting a big old day of Italian feasting this Easter, with two ways to play. Choose to sit down for a four-course wine-paired feast at Dilly Dally or keep it light with grazing and drinks at Bar Loiter—the first cocktail is on them. Come 4pm you can chuck that table cloth down and move to the dance floor with DJ Paul Malone on the decks spinning vinyl til late.

Banh Mi Festival

Prepare to smash all the banh mi, a festival dedicated to the Vietnamese classic is popping up at Yokine Reserve from 4pm til 9pm on Saturday 30 March. There'll be plenty of food vendors competing for the title of Perth's best banh mi (so bring your appetite), a banh mi eating competition, Vietnamese coffee, craft beer and more tasty treats and entertainment. Plus, DJ Lee from Le Vietnam will be there to spill their secrets in a special banh mi masterclass you won't want to miss.

Spritz And Dips

Henry Summer has your knock off drinks covered this weekend with their new spritz and dip special. Choose from one of three spritz and dips pairings, served with housemade pizza bread for $15. Available Wednesday to Saturday, 12pm til 6pm and Sunday 4pm til 6pm.

Bottomless Brunch At Tommy Tacos

Tommy Tacos has just entered the bottomless game, with a boozy little lunch menu guaranteed to spice up your weekend. For $85 each, you'll enjoy a table full of Mexican eats, including birria nachos, bacon and egg tacos, corn chips and guac, all washed down with 90 minutes of free flowing drinks. And not just any drinks. We're talking Idle Hands cocktails, frozen margaritas, Mexican mimosas and more. It's available Saturdays and Sundays starting this week—book here.

Chocolate High Tea At The Westin

From 1 March until 28 April, The Westin will be serving up an oh-so decadent chocolate high tea that's guaranteed to get you in the mood for all the Easter choccies. We're talking choc-topped scones, cakes and tarts through to interesting cacao-infused savoury treats that you absolutely need to try.

Sunday 31 March

Easter Markets At Elizabeth Quay

Elizabeth Quay will be a buzz with Easter spirit this weekend, with a massive two-day market taking over the lush waterfront precinct in the CBD. Head in from 3pm til 8pm on Saturday or Sunday to explore more than 50 market stalls from local creators while the kids chase down the Easter bunny or hop on the charming little EQ Express train.

Bottomless Brunch At Jetty Bar

Tommy margaritas on repeat, waterfront vibes and irresistible brunch plates. Jetty Bar in East Freo is not mucking around with their brand new bottomless brunch. Enjoy two hours of the sweet life for $79pp and worry about your poor life choices on Monday. Bookings are available on the hour from 10am til 1pm.

Cape Arid Rooms Afternoon Tea

A beautiful space calls for a beautiful afternoon tea, and that’s exactly what you’ll find at Cape Arid Rooms inside the heritage walls of the stunning COMO The Treasury Hotel. From the decor and service to the delightful locally sourced treats and masterful tea menu, they’ve truly thought of every detail, so rest assured this is Perth’s most sophisticated high tea experience. And because it's Easter, they'll send you home with a beautiful gift from Sue Lewis Chocolatier.

Easter Fiesta At El Grotto

Gear yourself up for a big, tequila fuelled beach party this Easter, ‘cause El Grotto is pouring $14 margaritas and pumping the tunes all day and night. Entry is free.

All Weekend

Easter At Besk

Besk is rolling out some snazzy specials for the long weekend including a sexy little hot cross bun and butter pudding that is basically a hug in a bowl. If you've had enough sweets, you can always stick to drink specials and oysters.

Fremantle Street Arts Festival

The annual Fremantle Street Arts Festival returns this Easter long weekend with plenty of family friendly action on across the long weekend. We’re talking three metre high stilt walkers with a live drum band, an immersive “Bubble Canteen” blowing over 12,000 bubbles a minute, and a special street show from all-female circus faves, YUCK Circus. That's barely scratching the surface—scope out the program here.

Somerville Movies

Located at the ivy laden grounds of the University of Western Australia and a stone's throw from the Swan River, Somerville outdoor cinema is hands down one of Perth’s most beautiful outdoor cinema experiences. Nestled between the pine trees you'll find rows and rows of beach chairs, picnickers, strung fairy lights and food huts to keep you satisfied. The cinema wraps up on Sunday 31 March, so this is your last chance to visit until they return next summer.

Cooking With Opera

For centuries music has inspired culture, and right now a bunch of restaurants throughout the city of Subiaco are taking their cues from the marvelous world of opera. From 23 March to 6 April you’ll find limited-edition menus, activations, live music, cooking classes and more all designed in partnership with the WA Opera. Head here for details.
