With wineries galore, incredible eats and stunning sights, the Swan Valley is Perth’s own little slice of Margaret River, 25 minutes from the city.
We’ve teamed up with Mirvac and their brightest new community Iluma Private Estate in Bennett Springs, one of the most vibrant places to live between the city and the valley, to bring you 7 reasons to check out the Swan Valley. We’ll see you there!
#1. Because Of All The Food
From Perth’s oldest burger joint, Alfred’s Kitchen, and the many wineries offering top notch eats, to cool cafes like Little Guildford and Slate Cafe and everyone’s fave pub, The Guildford Hotel, The Swan Valley has got it all when it comes to the food department. Whether you’re after delicious cheese and meats or maybe a sweet treat or two, you’ll find it in the Swan Valley.
#2. There Are Wineries Everywhere
Literally everywhere. There are over 40 to choose from, in fact! Head to Coward & Black for all your wine and chocolate master class action (say what?!), Perth’s only organic winery, Harris Organic Wines, for some good quality and guilt-free vino or Lamonts for a delicious feed (paired with wine, of course). Here are some more of our faves in the area.
#3. All Of The Pretty Buildings (And The History Too)
Guildford is probably the most historically rich corner of Perth and home to some beautiful old colonial buildings. We love The Rose & Crown Hotel and Chapel of St Mary and St George. Check out the Guildford Heritage walk trails here.
#4. It’s Antique Heaven
If you’re into vintage anything, James Street—aka the antique strip—is the place for you. From furniture to vintage kitchen wares and plenty of other bits and pieces, you’re sure to find some cute new things to bring home. Hop in and out of the shops and re-fuel as you go with coffee from one of the many cafes interspersed between the stores.
#5. You’re Never Short Of Something To See Or Do
If you’re the outdoorsy type, The Swan Valley is your haven. Get onya bike and check out the Swan Valley Heritage Cycle Trail or if you’d prefer to leg it there’s always the Bells Rapid and Noble Falls walk trails. If you hate exercising, you’re never short of something to do, whether it be a wine tour or Polo In The Valley.
#6. The Cute Critters
From cuddly koalas and chubby wombats to cute penguins and baby pigs, the Swan Valley abounds with cute critters. Caversham Wildlife Park has pretty much got it all, the Swan Valley Cuddly Animal Farm will make you squeal louder than the piggies and the WA Reptile Park is worth a look if you don’t mind things that slither.
#7. It’s Close To The City
Only a 25 minute drive from the CBD, what more reason do you need to visit this incred pocket of Perth than the amazing food, wineries, shopping and experiences that await?
