Whether it’s the warm sun on your face after a long winter hibernation, your first (albeit chilly) swim of the season or just the general feel-good vibes seemingly permeating the air, there’s no denying there’s something magical about spring. So, what better way to celebrate the arrival of our favourite season than with a fresh round-up of the most ‘Gram-worthy bars in Perth to hit up for a carefree spring soirée.

To ensure you make your way seamlessly to the bar (and save some serious coin), we've teamed up with DiDi, Perth’s newest ridesharing service. Not only can you get your hands on epic deals, you can also score a free ride to the value of $20 across four glorious DiDiDAYS: Saturday 9, 16, 23 and 30 November. But wait, there's more. Soak Up Stunning Water Views

After cementing a place in our hearts, Embargo finally cemented itself as a permanent bar in 2018 and waved goodbye to the pop-up life. The perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon, Embargo has permanently docked at the On The Point precinct in East Perth and boasts uninterrupted, 360-degree views of the glistening Swan River. With a licenced jetty, vibing dance floors, a string of happy hours and floor-to-ceiling windows, Embargo is a surefire way to spend a sunny weekend with your crew. Our advice? Try and nab a spot early on a Saturday for their Sundowner Sessions and soak up live music from 2.30pm on the deck—you won’t regret it.

Little Creatures

More brewery than bar, Little Creatures has become the home of guaranteed good times. Positioned smack bang on the edge of Fremantle Harbour, the laid-back brewery recently turned the legal age of 18, so it’s certainly not new but, thankfully, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. If you’re after a stunning harbour backdrop to accompany your hard-earned tipple and a drool-worthy slice, the vibrant outdoor backyard is where it’s at. Walk-ins are welcome but if you plan on rallying the crew, be sure to book ahead. It’s a must-do for any Perth newbies, locals or visitors, so if you haven’t yet hit it up, there’s no time like the present.

Scarborough Beach Bar

With unrivalled beach vibes and coastal views, Scarborough Beach Bar is probably one of the most iconic summer hangouts in Perth. Home to the casual yet coveted Peach Pit Bar, the beachfront watering hole is undoubtedly one of the best places to set up shop on a sunny afternoon in spring. Serving up seriously delicious pub grub with a welcomed Asian-fusion flair, you can expect things like crispy Japanese fried chicken tacos with kewpie wasabi mayo and slaw. Drool-worthy share plates paired with a warm, coastal sunset? Like we need convincing.

Chill Out At A Laidback Locale

Si Paradiso

Taking an understated, authentic and retro approach to Italian cuisine and cocktails, Si Paradiso is all about our three favourite words starting with d: drinking, dining and dancing. An inviting establishment divided into three distinct areas—the lobby, the basement and the amphitheatre, Si Paradiso ticks everything you’d want on a balmy spring weekend. If fresh seafood with a contemporary twist, live jazz music and chilled Italian vino sounds right up your alley, we recommend grabbing the gang and staying from open ‘til close.

Strange Company

This low-key bar might be small in size but it’s certainly not small in spirit. Dishing out tasty tapas-style bites and juicy wine on tap, it goes without saying, Strange Company is a hidden bar worth finding. The wine list is extensive, so we recommend spending a little time working your way through it, and if you’re with your crew, you can’t go wrong with a round of natural oysters and hot sauce to kick the celebrations off.  Our go-to? Sharing a hearty charcuterie board and a delicious bottle of pét-nat to welcome the warmer weather.

Mechanics Institute

A laid-back, tiered rooftop bar tucked away in a gorgeous converted heritage building, Mechanics Institute is the perfect place to hole up for an understated catch-up with friends (or, let’s be honest, to nurse a post-party hangover). Slinging drool-worthy burgers from Flipside and equally hearty bloody marys, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re kickin’ back on a rooftop in Chicago or The Big Apple. There’s no doubt why this Northbridge bar is a favourite among locals. Expect comfy couches, friendly bar staff and feel-good spring vibes.

Relish Some Rooftop Vibes

Rooftop at QT

Spring is synonymous with day-time drinking and sundowner sessions, and the Rooftop at Perth’s QT is certainly the place to head if you want to party. Boasting gorgeous, panoramic views of the CBD skyline, golden hour at the QT is pretty spectacular. With the warm glow of the city lights, the distant hum of the streets below and a high-quality cocktail list to rival Perth’s best, there’s no question as to why this sophisticated, award-winning slice of the town is always buzzing. We recommend checking the dress code before arriving (read: look sharp) and order one of their rooftop signatures as soon as you glide in.

The Reveley

Picture this: unwinding as you soak up stunning views of Elizabeth Quay, the city and the Swan River while devouring moreish bites and even better cocktails. Sounds dreamy, right? Well, Henry’s Rooftop Bar at The Reveley is where dreaminess turns into reality. While The Reveley impresses guests with its cafe and restaurant downstairs, the rooftop is where it really dazzles. Think light-filled interiors with gold accents, soft, wood panelling and gigantic windows accompanied by freshly shucked oysters, duck liver parfait and pan-fried Shark Bay prawns with chilli and garlic mayo. Pure bliss.

Sweetwater Rooftop Bar

If you want to feel like you’re on permanent vacation, Sweetwater Rooftop Bar is where it’s at. The tropical, summery decor transports you instantly to the sandy shores of the Carribean and the lush greenery surrounding the tables makes it easy to forget where you are. Serving up a seasonal, Asian-inspired smorgasbord that rotates every six to eight weeks, the menu is just as enticing as the blue skies overhead. But the best part? The bar’s very happy hour. Enjoy classic cocktails, like espresso martinis, for $10 and crispy, golden karaage chicken wings for just $1 (not a typo). We’ll see you there.

Get A Bit Boujee

Located in the lobby of Crown Towers, TWR (The Waiting Room) is where a night of boujeeness begins. Whether you’re lucky enough to be enjoying a staycation, vacation or you’re simply starting out the night right, TWR is cosmopolitan locale with an exceptionally impressive cocktail list. From the moment you step in, you’ll soon realise this sophisticated bar is more than special and with a string of awards you know you’re in good hands. Ripped straight from the pages of a glossy magazine, the Gatsby-esque decor is ‘Gram-worthy to say the least. We’re talking soft, velvet sofas, plush leather chairs and stunning glass chandeliers.

A basement bar that’s all about decadence and 1950s glamour, Halfords is a foolproof way to enjoy an elegant night out with friends. Tucked into the restored basement Safe Room of the 1897 Tiles Building in the heart of Perth’s CBD, the late-night lounge bar is an inviting mix of jewel tones, crushed velvet and sleek marble. Beyond the interior theatrics, the menu and cocktail offering extends the classy affair but tacks on a contemporary twist with things like the Punch Drunk Zombie (Halford Zombie Rum, bubblegum, lime and absinthe) and the Charlie Chaplin (Hayman’s Sloe gin, apricot brandy and lime juice). The bar also boasts an impressive selection of absinthe and whiskey, so we recommend settling in for the night and working your way through it.

Bar Lafayette

Designed for those with an evolved palette, Bar Lafayette is a swanky establishment where old meets new. But don’t be deterred by its ostentatiousness, this artisan bar is as warm as its whiskey lineup. The interior alone is reason to pop your head in with gallery-like walls, plush Persian rugs and mood lighting, it feels as though you’ve been invited to an intimate get-together in the home of a famed aristocrat. Menu-wise, the offering is limited but it’s in no way insufficient with delicious finger food like bourbon pork sliders, grilled chorizo and karaage chicken soft shell tacos. No matter what’s on your evening itinerary, you can kick things off or wind it down at Bar Lafayette and swirl, sniff, sip ‘til your heart’s content.

Thirsty? We know we are. Rally the crew and start planning because spring is here and it's time to celebrate. To ensure you make your way seamlessly to the bar (and save some serious coin), download DiDi and take advantage of their DiDidays and bar hop for next to nothing.
