Here’s The Lowdown On Wembley’s Brand New Food, Wine And Coffee Hot Spot

Cam St Social

It’s pretty safe to say that we are becoming increasingly spoiled for choice when it comes to places to wine and dine in Perth, and this new addition is no exception. Power duo Esther and Darren Walker are opening the doors to their new restaurant Cam St Social at the beginning of April and we’ve had a chat with them to find out what punters can expect.

Taking over the spot that once was Hermosa, Darren will be heading up the kitchen, and for good reason. He’s been in the industry for 30 years, working under chefs like Marco Pierre White and Gordon Ramsey and gracing the kitchens at different venues across the UK and Perth. If you’ve ever been to The Shorehouse in Swanbourne or Lot One Kitchen in Hillarys then you’ll know just how finger linking good his meals are. Combine Darren’s knowledge of cooking with Esther's 13 years of food management experience at Fresh Provisions and you’ve got the recipe for a huge success. The crew plan to deliver some incredible meals using wholesome Western Australian produce; we’re in for a real treat.

Cam St Social will be open seven days a week, serving all day brunch and dinner from its digs in Wembley. We’re told the vibe will be warm, casual and inviting, and the space will be decked out in lots of natural finishes and plants. The menu caters to all—vegans, vegetarians and carnivores—and has an extensive list of drinks perfect for those boozy birthday dinners or sneaky lunchtime vinos. They will also be serving up exceptional cups of java from Precision Coffee, roasted locally in Bayswater.

What you can expect to find on the menu are classics like smashed avo done a little differently, or sauteed wild mushrooms on toasted brioche with asparagus, truffle oil and parmesan. There are healthier options too, like the wellness bowl with roast pumpkin, beetroot, mixed grains, radish, cucumber, carrot, Persian feta and toasted seeds. The dinner menu features entrees and main dishes like pan-fried dhufish with crushed peas and salt and vinegar potatoes.

Keep an eye out here for more information on the location and opening date.
