Oh Mount Lawley you’re a gem of a ‘burb. And yes, we all know and love the institutions like Clarences, el Publico, Five Bar and Cantina, but there’s more to this neighbourhood that you really need to check out.
Here are 7 slightly left-of-centre places you should eat in Mount Lawley this weekend.
The Modern Eatery
Any place that cooks food with a blowtorch should probably be on your hit list for the fun factor alone. But don’t worry, the food at The Modern Eatery is super tasty too! These guys specialise in Aburi sushi which is part raw, part cooked (with a blowtorch, did we mention that?). The result? A subtle buttery but smokey flavour. They also have a good range of Japanese whiskey that you’ll want to get stuck into while you’re there.
We just can’t get enough of Pepper Lunch since it popped up in Mount Lawley’s Beaux Lane. This casual restaurant is perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner. Get a piping hot teppan delivered to your table and cook your food to perfection. Peppery goodness, cooked your way.
Threecoins Italian Trattoria
Looking for a traditional Italian restaurant in Perth? Then off you go to Threecoins Italian Trattoria. With a woodfired pizza oven, plus so much delicious antipasti, pasta and veal cotaletta, you don’t want to miss out on this place. Make sure you save room for dessert—there’s white chocolate panna cotta or Bailey’s tiramisu up for grabs!
Asian tapas is a real thing now and we couldn’t be happier about it. The menu at Miss Potz was created by the same mastermind behind Mr Munchies (go ahead and get excited) and features gems like rendang beef sliders, soft-shell crab papaya salad and tom yum mussels. It’s BYO so bring a bottle and order one of everything!
All of the good coffee and all of the Greek treats, Bossman knows the way to our hearts! The coffee here is among Perth’s best so order a big one with some baklava on the side and take a seat at one of the communal tables for some you-time!
An oldie but a goodie, Fez is still dishing out some of the best brunches in Perth. We’re talking breakfast panna cotta bomboloni that’ll blow your mind and all the usual egg-y suspects.
Dainty Dowager’s focus is on Chinese BBQ and the char sui pork is red hot proof that they’re doing it well. But trust us when we say don’t stop there! The cocktails here have got to be some of the best in Perth and the desserts absolutely cannot be missed.
