Following the lead from Mary Street Bakery, East Fremantle's May Street Larder is now taking its namesake along for the ride with the news of a second location opening at The Mezz in Mount Hawthorn.
Taking over the space that was Academy Cafe (don't worry, they're still open in Claremont), May Street Larder 2.0 is opening on 15 March, that's two short weeks away for those without a calendar.
Co-owners Eamon Sullivan and Scott Bridger have confirmed everyone's favourite Soul Sandwich will be on the menu, as well as a good mix of healthy and indulgent eats covering everything from vegan bircher to breakfast burritos.
In true larder style, the cabinets will be stocked with fresh salads, croissants, gourmet sangas, and house-made sausage rolls and pies, as well as their popular range of jams, preserves, pickles, gourmet cheese, butter, olives and dips. There'll even be ready-made meals to grab for dinner for those on the go.
Caffeine-wise, the joint will be brewing Campos Coffee, including nitro and cold brew, plus there'll be house-made kombucha and May Street's specialty gin and tonic with a twist.
Being the legends that they are Braille menus are available upon request (the same goes at East Freo's May Street Larder and Bib & Tucker), and they're doing their bit to help clean up the oceans with the One Straw concept where you hand over a gold coin in exchange for a reusable straw. And if you're looking to save a buck you can bring in your surplus of home-grown citrus and get 10% off your next meal.
"We want to create a friendly neighbourhood environment where everyone feels welcome," says Sullivan. "Walk down and meet a friend for brunch, peruse the shelves while you wait for a coffee or grab a freshly cooked item for dinner as well. We’ll see you soon.”
May Street Larder at The Mezz will be open seven days from 7am.
