Lamb Shanks Perth

We don’t know about you guys, but for us, lamb shanks make everything better. And why wouldn’t they? When you sit down to a plate of warm, tender, fall-off-the-bone lamb shanks, suddenly everything in life seems ok.

Had a crap day at work? Lamb shanks. Fight with the missus? Lamb shanks.

So if you’re in need of some comforting, here are 10 spots serving up some of Perth’s best lamb shanks.

Hey Griller

Victoria Park

Anywhere that’s called ‘Hey Griller’ is likely to deliver on the meat front. And Hey Griller in Vic Park definitely does. Their chargrilled lamb shank is cooked until juicy and tender, seasoned with northern Chinese spices and then served with vegetables and a side of gravy.

Imagine if someone cooked their lamb shanks in beer—oh wait, you don’t need to imagine because the team at Nunzio’s have done just that. Their lamb shank is cooked in a beer and onion sauce, served with asparagus and baked crispy mash.

Must Wine Bar

Mount Lawley

If you want some fancy lamb shanks, head to Must Wine Bar. They season their shanks in middle-eastern spices, and serve them with lamb neck croquettes, grilled eggplant, muhammara (a dip made of spicy pepper) and buttermilk dressing.

The Left Bank

The only thing better than lamb shanks is when those lamb shanks are a bargain. Monday night at The Left Bank is Shank & Shiraz night. For $17, you can get a big juicy shank with mashed potato and red wine jus, perfectly paired with a glass of shiraz. (Fret not though, beer drinkers—if you don’t want a shiraz, you can swap it for a pint of your choice.)

Fibber McGee’s

Everybody’s favourite Irish pub Fibber McGee's dishes up braised lamb shanks with garlic mash, root vegetables and rich braising sauce to dip everything into (or just drink it on its own).

The Italian joint Positano in Northbridge dish up a beauty of a shank—slow braised tender lamb shank in a rich red wine sauce, served with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

The Flying Scotsman

Mount Lawley

The good people at The Scotto have a mean Monday deal with their $15 lamb shank night. Juicy shanks on a bed of roasted vegetables, potato mash and a tasty dipping sauce.

Lo Zucchero

City Beach

Lo Zucchero’s lamb shanks are braised for extra tenderness and served with a roast root vegetable sauce and green peas, stacked on top of creamy mashed potato.

The Local Hotel

The lamb loin at The Local Hotel is grilled to perfection and served with a caramel carrot puree (whoever decided to make carrots caramel deserves a medal), sautéed seasonal greens and a fig jus. Yum.
