Ah, breakfast burgers. They’ve seen us at our worst, helped us nurse some serious morning-after regret and maybe even ruined our favourite of jeans—and that’s why we love ‘em. These messy morsels are the ultimate comfort food and we’ll gladly kill any health kick to dig right in. From the humble bacon and egg roll to the brioche masterpiece, we’ve rounded up Perth’s best breakfast burgers.
Candied bacon. Need we say more? Paired with egg, American cheese, caramelised onion, garlic mayo and spinach on a brioche bun this one is a mouthful. Whatever you do, do not cut the burger in half. It may not be graceful but it is 100% delicious. Order onion rings on the side if you’re feeling particularly greedy. Well played, Little H.
Best Wishes Coffee
The boys at Best Wishes Coffe in Freo have teamed up with Short Order Burger Co to bring you weekend brekky burgers and, if we say so ourselves, it’s a match made in heaven. Grilled for extra deliciousness, these burgers are best paired with one of the shop’s speciality brews.
With no bacon in sight, this addition is a little controversial but we still count Chinta’s summer brisket burger as one of Perth’s best. You’ll get poached eggs, beef brisket, Asian slaw and a lemon hollandaise all served on a brioche bun, in a beautiful Balinese setting. We reckon this is one of Perth's best breakfast burgers, bacon or no bacon.
Not for the faint hearted, and definitely blurring the line between breakfast and lunch (not that we’re complaining), Blacksmith does a serious breakfast burger. We’re talking a beef patty with bacon, egg and cheese on a bun, topped with onion rings and served with fries. If you have children in tow there’s a sandpit and playroom, so rest assured they won’t be stealing your chips.
This photogenic burger is guaranteed to inspire some Insta food envy, but don’t let its looks deceive you—it will get messy. The open brekky burger has oozing poached eggs along with potato, bacon and avocado on an organic loafers pretzel bun.
Mary Street Bakery
This one’s for the naughty office workers nursing a mid-week hangover. It’s a good old egg and bacon roll with homemade tomato relish and HP sauce and is only available at Mary Street’s QV1 location. Don’t even try to resist the doughnuts—there’s no shame in a little mid-morning dessert.
Duck Duck Bruce
The name of this burger says it all. ‘The morning after the night before’ has all the good bits and more with fried egg, bacon and onion jam, more bacon, greens, avo and hollandaise on a sesame pretzel bun. Duck Duck Bruce is dog-friendly so don’t forget to BYO pup.
A weekend special that isn’t always on the menu… but when it is, damn it’s good. The Egg and ProCHUto bun with (yep, you guessed it) scrambled eggs and delicious prosciutto is the perfect way to enjoy the weekend. Take it across the road and eat it sitting in Hyde Park.
