Taste of the Kimberley and WA is a celebration of WA’s native flavours and cultures and it’s happening at one of our all-time fave locations, The Mantle in Freo this month. Kicking off on Tuesday 7 March with the Battle of the Chefs, this is an event you absolutely cannot miss.
A few of WA’s best chefs—including Sam Ward of el PUBLICO fame, Don Tapa’s Stuart Laws, Young George’s Melissa Palinkas, Rivermint Dining’s Robyn Low, Co-Op Dining’s Kiren Mainwairing and last but not least, Sue Lewis of Sue Lewis Chocolatier—will battle it out to produce six amazing courses with each dish featuring a variety of native WA ingredients.
Each chef will be buddied up with a young indigenous student on the night and guests get to choose the winning dish—let’s just say we don’t think it’s going to be an easy choice!
The crew at The Mantle have also collaborated with Eagle Bay Brewing Co to create a native lime and anise myrtle wheat beer—West Coast Wild Ale—which will be launched at the dinner, so you’ll get to have the first taste of this delicious sounding brew.
There are only 25 tickets available so you’d better get in quick and grab yours now!
The celebrations will continue until 26 March with indigenous art exhibitions, craft workshops and cooking classes, plus Don Tapa and Alter Ego will be featuring native ingredients on their menus all month long.
