There’s been a lot happening in Perth since we wrote this list. Like, a lot. From bakeries serving booze-filled doughnuts, to coffee shops offering pilates classes, here are 36 new restaurants, bars and cafes you need to get yourself immediately, if not sooner.
The Hummus Club
The Hummus Club has fiiiiinally opened! Treating Perthies with their delectable middle-eastern cuisine and general good vibes, this is most definitely on your must-visit list.
Sunsets and Italian go hand in hand, amirite? Tom’s Italian is now open and dishing up tasty Italian dishes with views to boot.
The Emerson Bar
In the spot that used to be Carnegies, The Emerson Bar is spread across three levels with the rooftop bar serving our favourite summer drink, frosé. The bar stays open into the wee hours of the night so you can drink and dance your night away in style.
The hills are alive with the sound of rustic Italian food and plenty of Italian wine thanks to La Fattoria. They have officially opened their doors so get down there pronto.
Maison Saint-Honore has opened up in the Swan Valley, serving handmade macarons and pastries made by a French chef using traditional French recipes. Start the car.
Honey Beanz will be making all you Subi office workers rejoice its amazing lunch items, which are a mixture of simple modern cuisine and big punchy Asian flavours. Lunchtime, here we come.
A new addition to the Flora Terrace cafe scene is 96 Degrees. Specialising in quality coffee, they have their own bespoke blend AND cold drip nitrogen-infused coffee. Wowee.
Alcohol and doughnuts, together at last in glorious harmony. MOP make speciality brioche-style drunken doughnuts fresh on site. There’s other stuff too like burgers, ice cream and drunken freakshakes. Dear lord.
Nasi Lemak Korner
Nasi Lemak’s new Mossie Park restaurant has only just opened and they already have queues out the door! We guess that’s what happens when you’re touted as having the best Malaysian in the city. Head along, it's worth the wait.
Mr Fox on William
The team at Mr Fox have made 270 William Street their new home. A comfy space serving killer coffee and delicious brekkies and lunches.
William Street Cycle Co
If you are a cyclist and coffee enthusiast, then you’re going to want to try this new spot in Northbridge. William Street Cycle Co sell bikes and know everything about bikes—and also do top notch coffee, light eats and other glorious baked goods.
Rockefeller Deli has just opened where Ace Pizza used to be with a classic take on the New York deli—think stacked pastrami, house smoked salmon, piles of pickles and dense, chewy bagels for days. Oh and an extensive wine, beer and cocktail selection.Yew.
Offering some of the best coffee in town and some sensational breakfast and lunch options, Dr Clause in Claisebrook is definitely one to put on your hit list.
The Orange Box at Leighton
A bit of a walk up from Leighton Beach, you will find this fantastic new addition to the North Freo cafe scene. The Orange Box are doing great coffee, amazing cake selections, delish brekkie options—plus they’re doing their bit for the environment with all the cutlery and crockery being 100 per cent biodegradable. What good eggs!
Auntie G is where Maya Indian used to be on Freo’s cafe strip, and is a rad new little restaurant / bar / all-round general cool spot. Think modern ‘Indian-fusion’ share plates with a kick-ass drinks list.
Sitting on Lord Street is this coffee shop, pilates studio and cafe all in one! Talk about covering your bases. Pop into Exhale Espresso for a bite to eat, a pilates sesh or a damn fine caffeine hit.
The Kailis restaurant at Trigg Beach is now also home to Canteen Trigg, and we are super pumped. They do a variety of takeaway delights such as breakfast trays, salad trays and seafood trays. Just the thing you need after a day at the beach.
iPoke in the Freo markets is serving fresh, authentic Hawaiian cuisine to go—think big tasty bowls of salmon with fresh vege salads with a tropical twist.
Cafe New Orleans
Bringing some Southern-inspired soul food to the people of Fremantle is the team behind Cafe New Orleans. Located in Freo’s west end, they’re dishing up Cajun and creole cuisine with locally roasted coffee and sweet treats.
Coffee + dessert = a winning combo. Bottega is bringing just that to the people of Fremantle with their superb coffee and home-made desserts.
Located in the heart of Northbridge, Comet Pizza is Perth’s newest gourmet pizzeria and we're obsessed!
St Lucy has opened on Rokeby Road and the team here are brewing excellent coffee and dishing out awesome salads, delish bagels and all sorts of baked goodness.
Sohe Thai Fusion
A brand new Thai fusion restaurant has opened its doors in Bicton and everything looks absolutely drool-worthy. If you're a south-sider we think Sohe might just become your new local.
A Meditteranean restaurant with a French twist, Bloody French is serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Subiaco locals are lapping it up. There's plenty of seafood on the menu and loads of delicious cheesy dishes, plus the wine list is ace.
Little Lamonts Express
Lamonts has expanded to include a delightful little cafe in the Swan Valley where you can get tasty meals to go, a good range of cheeses, freshly baked bread, dips and so much more. They also do excellent coffee!
Another Subiaco newbie, Rice Baby's cocktail game is strong and their dumpling game is even stronger. Try the matcha lava cake and thank us later.
Drift has opened where Preston’s previously lived on Calais Road in Scarborough and they’re dishing out good coffee and some ridic pizza.
West End Deli Cereal And Sandwich Bar
All our dreams are coming true in 2017 with the addition of the West End Deli Cereal and Sandwich Bar at the State Buildings. Weetbix with Nutella and banana anyone?
Starfish Bar will be opening on Beaufort Street and they'll be doing shucking good seafood! From oysters to good ol' fish and chips, everything is fresh, delish and reasonably priced!
A brand spanking new craft beer bar is set to open next to The Flying Scotsman on 17 December. Caboose has a few rad plans up their sleeve like takeaway growlers and toasties.
The Garnished Co
This stunning new dessert bar is going to be your go-to when you’re in need of a fancy dessert. Specialising in hand-painted and finely crafted sweets, you will not be disappointed at The Garnsihed Co.
Panda & Co
With the slogan “proudly inauthentic Asian” we can’t help but love Panda & Co before it’s even open. We’re expecting some pretty rad coffee thanks to Dukes Coffee, a whole lot of flare and a mod-Oz twist on some of our fave Asian goodies.
Mister Gill’s Fish and Chip Shop
We’ve got a feeling this ain’t going to be your average fish and chip shop. If you know Subiaco bar Juanita’s you’ll be very excited to hear that owner Murray Gill is opening a fish and chip shop just down the street which will be offering beautifully cooked seafood and wine, plus a few cocktails for good measure.
Hylin Small Bar
We’ve been eagerly awaiting the opening of Hylin’s small bar and we think it should be happening prettttty soon! If it’s half as good as the breakfasts, it’s going to be one of our new faves for sure!
Perth’s first dedicated cheese bar is almost ready to open, and we couldn’t be more excited. If you’re in the market for some mind-blowing fromage, or simply need some inspiration for your next cheese board, Fromage Artisans is where you need to be.
Mary Street Bakery
The team behind Mary Street Bakery appear to be taking over the world, and we are extremely happy about it. They’re opening their fourth bakery in the new Allendale Square development on St George’s Terrace in April 2017.
