Is anyone else finding their lunchtime salad much harder to stomach? Cold lettuce leaves can go take a jump as far as I am concerned because the winter weather is here and I’m sick of shivering through my lunch break!
It’s time to treat yourself to some deliciously warm soups, toasties, noodles and dumplings!
Here are our favourite CBD lunches to keep you full this winter.
Slurp Soup & Salad Bar
Kicking off with the winter working lunch of choice, soup. Whether you’re eating it to be healthy or you’re just looking to warm the cockles of your heart, Slurp have you covered this winter with their tasty soups and bone broths. Plus, good news for city workers, Slurp will be opening another location at Enex100 in early June!
Pho is pretty much the elixir of winter and for some of the best in Perth you’ll want to head to Mama Tran at their Carillon City or Milligan Street shops. They’ve also got some pretty tasty dry noodle dishes and banh mi. Add some extra chilli and you’ll be warm (and full) in no time!
What better way to warm up than cooking your lunch on a piping hot 260 degree teppan at Pepper Lunch on Barrack Street? Do yourself a favour and order the signature beef pepper rice with kimchi or the salmon pepper rice with cheese. They’re both freakin’ delicious and will keep you full to dinner time.
It’s not all about the smoothie bowls at Bowl’n in Perth. They’re also serving seasonal lunch bowls like Pad Thai with Asian slaw and chicken or falafel rice bowls loaded with veggies. The menu changes daily so you won’t get bored.
Ramen and winter go together like peas and carrots, and the noodles plated up at Nao Japanese on Murray Street are killer. Choose between soy, soybean, salt and spicy varieties filled with homemade noodles. If udon’s more your bag, Nao have you covered with their kakiage (topped with tempura) and simple varieties. Hungry yet?
Uncle Joe’s Mess Hall
Aside from making some of the best coffee in the city, Uncle Joe’s also serve up some tasty winter warmers. Think lamb shank with pumpkin puree and vegetable ragu and seafood chowder. You can even order brekky for lunch! If you’re after hearty winter lunch goodness, these are your guys!
Whether you’re after a comforting bowl of pho, the carby goodness of banh mi or a hearty plate of com tam (broken rice) with some spicy chicken curry, Roll’d have you covered this winter. Don’t forget to try their sweet potato fries and vegetarian spring rolls!
As far as I’m concerned, a toastie and hot chocolate is a winning winter lunchtime combo, and if you’re after some of the best of both Toastface Grillah are your guys. Nothing can beat the melty goodness of the 3 Cheese, but we’re also big fans of the Apple & Gouda and the Danny Zuccho.
