Is it seriously October already? WTF. May as well just put a line through this month too, right? WRONG. There’s way too much goodness to write this month off.

Brewery tours, whisky nights, a film AND a fashion festival, we’ve created the ultimate list of things to do on the Sunshine Coast this October.

Whisky & Cheese Night

Apparently, whisky loves cheese and we love whisky AND cheese. So when we heard about a night that’s bringing the two together, of course we had to share. Our fave cheese subscription folks, Cheese Therapy are teaming up with Taps Mooloolaba to host a special whisky and cheese night where you’ll sip whiskies from around the world and nibble on perfectly matched cheeses in between. Sounds like a pretty perfect way to spend a Thursday evening, no?
When: Thursday 5 October
Where: Taps Mooloolaba, The Esplanade and Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba
Cost: $59

Noosa Surf Film Festival

Anything to do with surf does well in Noosa, so we’ve no doubt in our minds that the 3rd annual Noosa Surf Film Festival is going to crank. This independent film festival launches on Thursday night and runs ‘til Sunday, with 24 screenings from 12 countries, live music, an art show, photography workshop and food stalls taking over The J. A festival pass will give you access to all the films for 65 buckaroos. Otherwise it’s $15 a pop, and by pop we mean viewing. Check the program here and nab your seats stat, or risk marauding the junction wondering where everybody is.
When: Thursday 5 October to Sunday 8 October
Where: The J, Noosa, 60 Noosa Drive, Noosa Heads
Cost: Ticket prices vary

Sunshine Plaza Weekend Sale Event

Pull out your phone, open the calendar and jot “SHOPPING DAYS” on Saturday 14 October (9am to 5.30pm) and Sunday 15 October (10.30am to 4pm), because it’s Sunshine Plaza’s Weekend Sale Event and we’d feel pretty bad if you missed out. Running alongside the over 50 ridiculously good offers from retailers—hello, swimwear for half of the price—there’ll be free (yep, FREE) styling workshops, pop-ups, entertainment and, wait for it, a complimentary beauty hub. For more info on this mammoth sale, keep your eyes on their website.
When: Saturday 14 October and Sunday 15 October
Where: Sunshine Plaza, Horton Parade, Maroochydore
Cost: Spend what you will!

Cooroy Mountain Climb

Serious mountain adventurers will know that this mountain is normally off-limits, being privately owned. So we’re hardly exaggerating when we say if you miss this Cooroy Mountain climb, you’ll be waiting 12 months for a second chance. Ouch! Hikes up the 408-metre tall mound kick off at 7am and go through ‘til 1pm, so you’d best be cancelling that brekkie, postponing your weekend market trawl and getting your butt to Cooroy Mountain. Don’t say we didn’t tell you!
When: Sunday 15 October
Where: 314 Cooroy Mountain Road, Cooroy
Cost: $10 adults, kids under 16 are free

Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival

Do you want the good news or the bad news? Bad news is: Paris Fashion Week is on right now and we’re missing out, because airfares. Meh! But there’s also good news, remember? The good news is that we’ve got our own fashion festival happening later this month. The 10th Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival will showcase established and up and coming local, national and even international labels. So, get ready to overload Insta stories with a whole lotta of catwalk action.
When: Friday 20 October and Saturday 21 October
Where: The Events Centre, 20 Minchinton Street, Caloundra
Cost: Tickets start at $60

Brewery Tours & Movie Night

Need to mix up your reg Saturday night routine? We know just the thing. Brewery Tours is bringing together beer, burgers and a screening of a cult film for a night of fun at breweries across the Sunshine Coast. Kicking off the tour this October, is Brouhaha in Maleny with a showing of The Big Lebowski. For all the deets, and to see what other brewery locations have been locked in for November, click here
When: Saturday 21 October
Where: Brouhaha Brewery, 6/39 Coral Street, Maleny

Sunshine Coast Open House

Architecture nerds, this free event has your name all over it. The Sunshine Coast Open House is a joint collaboration between Sunshine Coast Council, Noosa Council and the Australian Institute of Architects, and thanks to them you’ll get to spend the day exploring 30 of the Sunshine Coast’s most well-designed and interesting buildings.
When: Saturday 21 October
Where: Across the Sunshine Coast
Cost: Free

The Colour Movement

The most fun, fun-run, The Colour Run is coming back to the Coast. Sort of. Well actually, instead of running you’ll be skipping, sliding and dancing at the new all-ages The Colour Movement. Yep, there’s no running here, folks. Just a whole lotta colour, confetti, fairy-floss foam and so much more.
When: Saturday 21 October
Where: Sunshine Coast Stadium
Cost: Adults from $40, kids $25
