There are some absolute ripper events happening all throughout regional Queensland this October, so we've rounded up the very best for you to check out this month.

From the iconic Crush Festival in Bundaberg, to the annual tropical Pride in Cairns, a UFO fest, short film festival and more, there really is plently to get out and do in the sunshine state.

Crush Festival 

Bundaberg's annual Crush Festival is back. Showcasing the arts and cultural scene of Bundy, powered by the local community and celebrating all things homegrown, stop by to check out their music, arts, culture, and community during the first two weeks of October.

Heart Of Gold International Short Film Festival

All the film lovers of Gympie will be assembling on the first weekend of October to watch, discuss, and enjoy the best in short filmmaking talent from all over the world. Known as the loveliest film fest around, the Heart of Gold Festival is all about spreading perspective and sharing heart-warming tales. If you love good films with warm and fuzzy feelings, this one is definitely worth checking out.

Cairns Tropical Pride

The annual (and now iconic) Cairns Tropical Pride festival will be three full days and nights packed with arts, fashion, drag, glam, culture, community, and most importantly, pride. Join in to experience the love of the local LGBTQ community.

UFO Festival

If you believe that extra-terrestrial beings have visited our earth, then the northern coastal town of Cardwell has the perfect festival for you. Australia’s only UFO festival will be taking place on the second weekend of October to confirm your conspiracies and maybe even learn some more.

Spirit Of Bundaberg Festival 2018

In case you live under a rock, the spirit that we know and love from the fair city of Bundaberg is none other than the golden nectar itself, Bundaberg Rum. To celebrate their 130th birthday (!) they will be pumping up their annual Spirit of Bundaberg Festival to be bigger and better than ever. Stop by the distillery on October 13 for food, dancing, good vibes, and, of course, copious amounts of rum.

Day Trip Music Festival

Starting off up north, Townsville will be playing host to a massive line up of Triple J favourites at the Day Trip Music Festival. With a line up featuring Touch Sensitive, Set Mo, Nyxen, Hood Rich, and other Aussie legends, you can feel the vibes of great music by the water all day long. On top of the tunes, there will be a cocktail bar, American-style BBQ, and plenty more pop-ups to fuel your day.

Port Shorts Film Festival

Another film fest hitting up regional Queensland this month is the Port Douglas Port Shorts Film Festival. On the last weekend of October, you can come along to watch some ripper short films from local talent and stick around to find out the ultimate winner. There will also be a series of masterclasses, so if you are an aspiring filmmaker this is definitely one to check out

Noosa International Film Festival

Noosa is once again hosting their International Film Festival in the last weekend of October. The Grass Is Greener Festival

Being so far north, Cairns isn’t exactly on the tour route for many international artists. Thus, out of necessity, they grew their own music scene, and The Grass is Greener Festival is back in town to showcase all the homegrown musical gems Cairns and the far north has to offer. With headlining acts from Hayden James, Herobust, Safia, and The Jungle Giants (big names coming out of our steamy tropical north), this is the must-attend festival for all music lovers.
