Another month, another few weeks of sitting on the couch eating TeeVee Snacks right out of the box. And we’ve got some ripper stuff for you to stream in September. Chuck your trackies on, put the popcorn in the microwave and get cosy.
Here's everything you should be binging this month.
If you’re in the mood to laugh till you’ve formed a seriously impressive 6-pack (can’t complain), this one’s for you. Created by Waco O’Guin and Roger Black (AKA the guys who gave us Brickleberry), Paradise PD is an American adult animation comedy that follows a small town police department where the cops are comically sh*t at their jobs. It's up on Netflix right now.
Iron Fist Season 2
A second season of Iron Fist is about to be thrown our way, and we can’t wait to see what Danny and Jess will get up to this time. We're secretly hoping for a sidekick: Copper Foot. It’ll be available on Netflix September 7.
Bojack Horseman Season 5
Raphael Bob-Waksberg's hit adult series, Bojack Horseman (commonly referred to as ‘that horse show’) is back at it again with a brand new fifth season. Prep yourselves for some serious animal puns and a whole lot of tummy-dropping trauma. Check it out from September 14.
Written by Patrick Somerville, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, and featuring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone (eek), Maniac will be coming to your Netflix screens September 29. The series follows two strangers undergoing a mysterious pharmaceutical treatment to change their lives for the better.
Better Call Saul Season 4
Saul Goodman is back for a fourth season of Better Call Saul. If you haven’t already gotten around this one, we highly recommend. The series is a spin-off prequel to Breaking Bad (also recommend, if you haven’t watched) and follows the life of Saul Goodman, an ace attorney, formerly known Jimmy McGill. Episodes will be dropping weekly on Stan. Same time as US.
The last EVER Adventure Time episode
Watch 12-year-old Finn battle evil in the land of Ooo in the last EVER episode of Adventure Time. It's dropping September 4. Bring tissues.
Jim Carey and Michael Gondry are rocking a new heart-breaking comedy called Kidding. It's directed by Michael Gondry, the same dude who directed Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (so you know you’re in for something pretty darn good) and follows the life of Jeffa (aka Mr Pickles), an icon of Children’s television. It’s up on Stan right now, so get watching.
Based on Elmore Leonard’s novel and subsequent film, Get Shorty is an American (shock-horror) comedy-drama, created by Davey Holmes. The series is all about Miles Daly, a former hitman from Nevada who tried to become a movie producer in Hollywood in order to win back his family. FYI: there’s a second season out as well, so you don’t have to fret if you chew through the first in a couple of days (we’re not judging).
This one’s a little heavy, so you’re gonna want a box of tissues. The Tale portrays the life of Jennifer (played by Laura Derm), a journalist who seemingly has it all, but has been suppressing a traumatic secret for years. We don't want to give too much away, so that's all you're getting.
Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Steven Canals have put their heads together and created Pose, a dance musical series that explores different lives in New York (the ball culture world, the rise of the Trump-era and the downtown scene). The series mainly concerns LGBTQ youth, who move into a support house and compete in various balls, which are judged by their fellow housemates. It’s a good one, guys. 10/10 recommend.
