We’ve nearly survived a quarter of 2018 (we know—terrifying) and much like the weather, we can’t decide how we feel. Nevertheless, this weekend’s going off with a bang. There’ll be a great mix of food, culture and art events and it’ll all distract you from the fact that you still don’t quite have your life together—those resolutions never really stuck, did they?

MCA ARTBAR

ARTBAR is back with another exciting line up of artists, music and performances. This month it’s curated by Melbourne artist Salote Tawale who draws inspiration from her personal experiences of race, class, ethnicity and gender, having grown up in Fiji. There’ll also be cooking and karaoke (yes please!) at this one and, while you’re there, you may as well check out the 2018 Biennale exhibition Superstitions: Equilibrium & Engagement. The Other Art Fair

You’ve spent all month looking at art and now’s your opportunity to finally buy some. Presented by Saatachi Art, The Other Art Fair’s opening party is on this Thursday and it’ll be showcasing some of the best emerging artists going around. With a killer bunch of activities like a live digital painting by Cara Jane Diffey, performances by Show Us Your Teeth and a special appearance by ELK—there’s no way you’ll leave disappointed. Wine Night At Machiavelli Ristorante Italiano 

Surely there’s no better way to end a long week at work than with a bottle of wine or two—It’s Friday, who’s going to judge you? No really, point them out. We’d like to have a word with these people. This weekend, Machiavelli Ristorante Italiano, in collaboration with Il Mercante, is holding a wine night complete with an authentic four-course Italian menu and wines to match More details here.

TWT Creative Precinct Block Party

It’s nearly the end of Art Month and you know what that means: it’s also time for the annual TWT Creative Precinct Block party. There’ll be a bunch of exhibitions, performances and artists studios open to explore on the night. And as well as the official opening of the Bakedown Cakery (our inner chocoholic is very excited) and a roller disco, there’s no doubt you will have fun wandering the trail through St Leonards. And don’t forget to check out the mural by Artist Sophi Odling which will be unveiled in Atchinson Lane. Grab your tickets here

UME Burger & Left of Field Block Party

If you’re more into food than art an art, this block party might be more your scene. Left of Field and Ume Burgers have come together for the ultimate night of gluttony. Featuring a limited edition lamb shisho burger as well as many of the other signature dishes like Left of Field's famous pavlova hotcakes and Ume’s signature Ume burger. So bring some friends, crack a cold one and relax to the beats of DJ Levins—It doesn’t get more Australian than this. Details here.

Saturday 24 March

Earth Hour Dinner

If Three Blue Ducks know about one thing (okaaaaay, two), it’s food and sustainability. This year, in celebration of Earth Hour, they’re turning out the lights and cooking up an epic feast via fire and gas only so yes, there’ll be no electric ovens or gas fryers in use people. The entire restaurant will be lit by candles and the menu will feature BBQ wallaby, BBQ lamb with a charred herb salsa, whole wood-roasted rainbow trout and more. This one will be delicious AF. Go Local Feast farmers markets at Steraton on the park 

Calling all foodies!! Sheraton on the Park is hosting all of the workshops, demonstrations and tastings this weekend and it’s all to celebrate their local suppliers and foodie experts. Basically, you’ll be choosing between rare wine, seafood tastings and a School of Gin session too. The best part is, it’s all complimentary with their lunch or dinner service. Book here

Sunday 25 March

Public House Petersham Carpark Party

Public House Petersham and One day have joined forces this weekend and that means you’ll be heading to the carpark and partying, bit time. We’ll introduce you to Neighbourhood Watch. Opening at midday, this even has a stack of fab DJs, pop up food stalls and a bunch of activities like face painting and bubble machines for the kids (or the adults, no judgement).
