11 Things To Do In Sydney This Weekend

This long weekend, we’ve rounded up the best things to see, eat and drink in Sydney so that all you have to worry about is no work and all play.  We’ve got a day at the races, some seriously yummy dinners, and of course the epic Grand Final, all covered and ready for action this weekend in Sydney. 

Thursday 29th September 

Festival of the Senses  

It’s Thursday, and you know what that means. Yup, it’s technically the weekend. Yeeeeesss! This weekend is looking pretty special already thanks to the Festival of the Senses. We’re pretty excited for Bungalow 8’s Summer Garden Party. Why? Because who wouldn’t be excited for a Summer inspired fiesta in the garden with free drinks and canapés?! While you’re in the area, drop in to Cargo Bar’s beer garden and grab yourself all of the snacks from some of Sydney’s best food trucks!

Salt Meats Cheese Presents Tutti A Tavola – ‘Tazmania’ 

Travel on a culinary journey around Tasmania with an Italian twist in Salt Meats Cheese latest series of Tutti A Tavola Chef’s Table events. Chef Massimo Mele celebrates “everyone at table” with a Tasmanian inspired four course menu with matching wines showcasing the very best Tazzie has to offer. We hear fresh octopus, Salmon Caviar, and Pork cheeks have been sourced for what promises to be a pretty yum, not to mention traditional, Italian meal.

McQueenie’s Annual Stoner Dinner 

Surry Hills Jamaican joint (pun intended) Queenies is hosting its annual golden arches inspired 5 course stoner dinner, McQueenie’s. Blaze away the love of 420 with this finger-licking good menu. Lovers of the green leaf can munch on dishes such as the hash brown double down jnr with fried chicken, cheese and hot sauce, or the McJunkie with sweet potato fries, bacon and caramel popcorn. Calling all nugget lovers, this event is for you.

Perseverance: Japanese Tattoo Tradition in a Modern World 

See the artistry of traditional Japanese tattoo up close and personal in this photographic exhibition fresh from LA at the opening of Perseverance: Japanese Tattoo Tradition in a Modern World. Featuring the work of seven internationally acclaimed tattoo artists, this exhibition showcases tattoos on fleeeeeeek. Artist Horisumi (Kian Forreal) will open the show, as the only tattoo artist in Australia to have been honoured with a Japanese tattoo name. Make sure to get here early, this event is looking like a showstopper.

Saturday 1st October 

Watsons Bay Hotel -  In Conversation with JSHealth 

Watsons Bay Hotel has your Saturday morning sorted with breakfast and a conversation with author and nutritionist Jessica Sepel, talking all things health, inspiration and nutrition. What better way to bring on your Summer glow than a morning on the water, saluting the sun and reinvigorating the healthy new you (well that’s what we tell ourselves anyway).

Epsom Day 

Calling all race-rats for Sydney’s Spring Carnival’s Epsom Day at Randwick Racecourse. A day of all of your favourite race-day antics.  Our money’s on the live music, Chandon Pop Up and The Buck List Beach Club Marquee for the ultimate Spring experience. With kick-ons at the Star’s Official After Party, there’s no better excuse to pull out the fascinators and race-day glam. Come and horse around!

Grand Final Weekend at the Norfolk 

The Norfolk is celebrating the grand final weekend loud and clear with 6 screens showcasing the AFL Grand Final live on Saturday and NFL Grand Final on Sunday. Once you’re here, there is no reason to leave all weekend with $10 pints of Young Henrys lager and cider. Park yourself up with some mates to join what is shaping up to be a pretty epic sports weekend in Sydney.

Love Rose Brunch Party at Watsons Bay 

Watsons Bay continues their ode to Spring with all things Rosé. Some would call this a brunch party, we would call it a necessary appreciation day. With Rosé flavoured gummy bears, a Frozé machine and a bespoke shared brunch menu, this pink drink will be sure to last well past sun down, celebrating the long weekend the right way. Live DJs and good vibes guaranteed. So here’s to you, Rosé, we are indebted to you forever and always. Cheers!

Greek Community Feast at Gazebo 

Celebrate the long weekend with a day of no work and all play in the sunny wine garden of Gazebo. Chef George Diamond is sharing recipes from his childhood, at a laid back afternoon of Greek feasting. Think Greek everything: haloumi, spanakopita, octopus, lamb, the list goes on. With expertly chosen wines to match, you might as well be in yia-yia’s kitchen, munching on taramasalata and chatting to the whole extended family.
