This weekend marks the first (legit) week of summer, guys, and if you’re not excited it’s probably because you haven’t read through this list yet. Tickets on our weekend planning abilities? Hell yes. From art shows, outdoor cinemas and Indigenous markets to getting #lit with the crew, drinking tequila and going on OTT long lunches—this weekend is going to be a big one (insert hangover joke here). 

We think December is the month of fun and what better way to help you kick off summer than this. Here is the ultimate list of every awesome thing to do in Sydney this week.

All Weekend

At Your Door: The Doormen Of New York City

Get yo’ art on this Thursday night at the exhibition, At Your Door: The Doormen Of New York City. It’s a photography exhibition by the New York-based artist, Alina Gozin’a and the entire thing is focused around those doormen you see in literally every episode of Gossip Girl, but IRL. In case you’re not sold, just know this. The photos are next level amazing.

Moonlight Cinema

December sees the five month Moonlight Cinema season kick off in Sydney and we’re too damn excited about it. Setting up camp in Centennial Park, you can catch all the latest films on a giant screen as you eat and drink the arvo away. Book your tickets here.

AMF Free Bowling Day

It might be time to re-visit an AMF bowling this Friday. We promise it’s all for a good cause. In support of the International Day of People with a Disability, they’ll be offering free bowling fun for disabled persons and their carers to boot. It’s happening across all AMF Bowling venues in Australia—find out more information here

Bumble Fab Lab

Prepare to get excited people—a Bumble Fab Lab is coming to Sydney and this pop-up is designed to make you feel happier. Yes, really.  Messina Gelato and Bumble have teamed up to bring two new gelato flavours into the world and you know you feel happier already. Plus the entire experience has been curated (with the VR space by psychologist Mary Hoang) to bring you complete happiness (it’s scientifically proven y’all). From scents to touches and tastes as well, the Bumble Fab Lab will have you smiling from ear to ear.

Tequila & Taco Festival

Since tequila = a guaranteed good time, this Saturday is looking hella promising. The Tequila and Taco Festival is coming to town (specifically to Mejico) and we’ll just let that sink in for a minute. You’ll be taking some of Australia’s and the world’s best tequila for a spin, all while chowing down on tacos. Ummmm, yes please.

Slow Artistry Long Lunch

The only thing better than a lunch is a loooong lunch and we know you agree. Star of Bombay and NOLA Smokehouse and Bar have joined delicious forces to deliver a long AF lunch this Saturday and we’re more than on board. Think cured and lightly smoked petuna ocean trout and seared pork head terrine paired with gin cocktails  that you’ll be sipping long into Saturday arvo. Heaven is real.

Pilates & Clicquot Le Brunch

This event is about as Bondi as it gets, guys. You can now attend a 60 minute Pilates class with the Pilates queen herself, Leah Simmons, followed by a two hour bottomless brunch at North Bondi Fish. Topped Out ft. Chris Sharma

Surry Hills Village Christmas Concert

In case you’ve forgotten, Christmas in on its way and quite frankly, a lazy summer arvo surrounded by friends and family singing Christmas tunes sounds like everything RM. Get down to Surry Hills this Sunday night for some of the cutest carols in Sydney. Need more incentive? There’ll be a sausage sizzle, gelato AND you can bring your doggo too—we’re sold already.

If you’re anything like us, you love a good market (and by love we like actually mean LOVE). Yoga Jam Summer Fiesta

Let’s just clear this up—this yoga class is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. Yoga Jam is coming back to Bondi Pavilion and it’ll have you grooving and shaking to house music, African drumming and dance music… all while getting your yoga fix for the week. This is actual proof that you can get fit/toned/an epic rig all while having fun, dancing and sipping from coconuts. Yeah, we get you.

Blak Markets
