You may be surprised to know that this week we’re back to doing what we do best—eating all the food. Aaaannd a lot of wine, but hey, who’s keeping track. There’s a four-course Middle Eastern feast, a five-course wine tasting, and a whole festival dedicated to street food.

So grab your crew and your stretchiest pants—here are five awesome things to do in Sydney this week.

Monday 9 October

Kiwi Pinot Winemakers Dinner

Is it really surprising that we're so damn excited about this Kiwi Pinot winemakers dinner? Not only does it include samples of five different wines but they'll all be paired with their own special meal. The winemakers themselves will be making an appearance all the way from New Zealand and the best part? It’s like one big speed date slash wine tutorial. Yep, you'll get half an hour with each winemaker before the Pinot bell rings and the next date begins. Oh and you could also win a trip to NZ just by showing up. ‘Nuff said.

When: Monday 9 October, 6pm - 9pm
Where: Dear Sainte Eloise, Potts Point
Cost: $75pp

Cinema @ Sweetheart Rooftop

Sweethearts Rooftop is kicking off their outdoor cinema season this week with films like The Breakfast Club, Dusk ‘till Dawn, and Karate Kid (#iconic). It’ll be happening three days each week, which means an after work movie and bev is definitely in order. They’ll be serving up movie-themed cocktail jugs and IYC pops (that’s alcohol infused popsicles, FYI), alongside Mexican food (#mexcellent) and obligatory popcorn (duh). There’ll also be ‘Tappy Hour’ from 4-6pm so you can be suitably prepped before the movie begins.

When: Monday 9 October - Wednesday 25 October
Where: Sweethearts Rooftop, Potts Point

Tuesday 10 October

Parramatta Lanes

ICYMI Parramatta Lanes festival is back for another year with an even more epic line up than last. There’ll be pop-up bars, live music, art installations, and allll the food spread across twelve hidden laneways in Parramatta. And speaking of food; this year you can get your hands on Asian sweet treats from Arcade Jam, fried chicken at the Butter stand, kebabs from Sundweesh and frosé by Archie Rose, to name only a few. We’re ready.

When: Tuesday 10 October - Friday 13 October
Where: George Street, Parramatta

Wednesday 11 October

Free Wine Tasting @ Firefly

Did we just hear the words ‘free’ and ‘wine’ in the same sentence? Oh yeah we did. Prepare yourselves—Firefly in Neutral Bar is hosting a free (yep, FREE) wine tasting with Usher Tinkler winery for their 9th birthday this week. And it’ll be accompanied by an entire pig on a spit. We’ll just let that sink in. It wouldn’t be a birthday without a weeklong celebration, so every night this week there’ll be a different event, all with party vibes and plenty of freebies. If you think Wednesday night sounds good, just wait ‘till Friday; we heard there’ll be an absinthe fountain.

When: Wednesday 11 October
Where: Firefly Bar & Dining

Efendy Takeover By Gerard’s Bistro

The legends at Brisbane’s Gerard’s Bistro (aka Ben Williamson) is finally coming to Sydney and will be taking over Efendy for some seriously epic feasting. He’ll be putting on a four-course extravaganza featuring flavours of the Middle East. You’ll start with simple and always perfect pita bread, but things will progress quickly to a roasted flathead with charred leeks, pickled kohlrabi, slathered with a tahini and watercress sauce. Then it’ll be followed by the slow-roasted wagyu brisket served with (more) flatbread and jewelled rice. Top it all off with perfumed orange granita with citrus curd and caramelised white chocolate for dessert and you’ll roll all the way home. Book here.

When: Wednesday 11 October
Where: Efendy Restaurant, Balmain

WHISKY, JAZZ & JAPANESE APERTIVO PARTY @ SOKYO

Wednesdays call for whiskey, which is exactly why you need to nab yourself a ticket to Sokyo’s exclusive whiskey, jazz and Japanese Aperitivo party. Sample three god damn delicious cocktails, stuff yourself at four different snack stations and take on as many different canapés as you can while listening to live jazz and pretending you’re fancy AF. Get all the deets here

Where: Sokyo, The Star
When: 11 October from 6:30pm
Cost: $89
