8 Of The Best Places To Drink Riesling In Sydney

By Phoebe McRae
2nd Feb 2017

There’s nothing better than warm, balmy nights spent with a chilled glass of white wine in hand, especially when that glass is filled with riesling—the queen of warm weather wines.

Ranging from dry to semi-sweet and sweet, with lower alcohol—riesling is a lighter drop that’s best paired with fresh salads, zesty Asian delights and seafood.

This year Pewsey Vale Vineyard is offering you the opportunity to win a trip to their breathtaking Eden Valley vineyard in South Australia worth $2,500 so you can experience Eden for yourself. All you have to do is visit one of the participating venues below between 1 February to 30 April, take a photo of your experience and post it to Instagram tagging the restaurant, @pewseyvalevineyard and #thisiseden. Easy peasy!

And without further ado, here are 8 of the best places to drink riesling in Sydney. Cheers!

The Commons Local Eating House

The Commons was made for your weekly wine night with the gals (or guys). You can order a three-course meal at the restaurant upstairs (every dish is delish, trust us) or head to the Downtown Bar (downstairs, obvs) and listen to the soulful sounds of live jazz and blues. Either way, there’s wine.

The Marina Cafe

Church Point

Everyone knows white wine tastes even better with a view, so start planning your next wine date at The Marina Cafe in Church Point now. The waterside diner is best known for its seafood (we’re already sold), so don’t leave without ordering the chargrilled scallops and a bottle (or two) of Eden Valley’s best.

Moxhe Restaurant

White wine and summer go together like fish and chips so why not indulge in the best of both worlds at Moxhe in Bronte. This fancy pants seafood joint is up there with the best, and you can even hear the sound of the ocean while chomping on your butter poached yellow belly flounder.

Greenpeppercorn @ The Civic Hotel

Thai isn’t Thai without white wine–LBH. Soften the blow of the spice and eat your weight in green curry and chilli fish cakes with the help of a bottle or two of riesling at Greenpeppercorn. You might as well get the red curry, too (go on).

Assembly Bar

If you’re looking for somewhere you can go to gossip (or have all of the bants), make Assembly Bar your next stop. The inner city watering hole is heaving every day of the week (in a good way) despite being hidden. Head here later in the week so you can stay all night.

mojo By Luke Mangan

The cool factor at this warehouse tapas bar is next level. Serving up dishes from all over the world (aka Singapore, Japan, Indonesia and the Maldives), the white wine here (particularly a drop from Eden Valley) is what keeps us coming back.

Commodore Hotel

McMahons Point

White wine solves everything (it’s a scientific fact*), so when you’re feeling sad about the fact that you broke your promise to exercise every day (it was unrealistic, we know), head to the Commodore to drown your sorrows. Their dessert menu will help, too.

The Langham Sydney

The Rocks

The Langham is the kinda place where you want to drop some serious dosh and go all out. Dress up in your Sunday best, grab your squad and work your way through their luxe bars. Don’t forget to order all of the wine.

For the chance to win a trip to Pewsey Vale Vineyard in Eden Valley make sure you also visit Squires Loft, The Cooks Garden Restaurant, The Emporium Parramatta, Nick Seafood Group, Blue Fish Cafe, Mantra 2 Bond Street, Lombardos Restaurant and of course, Eden Bar and Restaurant.
