Things to do this weekend in Sydney

As if your week hasn’t been hard enough (hopefully it hasn’t, we’re just generalising), now we are going to make it even harder by giving you an incredible choice of weekend events that can either be filed into the comfort food file or the intensive, yet rewarding workout file.

So, you can either pick a respective file or like us, find a way to do both! Warning, this does involve a whole lot of eating, running and laughing. Not always simultaneously. But to be honest, that doesn’t sound so bad… If you’re ready to find out what’s on in Sydney this weekend, read on to discover everything funny, delicious, French and fitness going on.

Thursday 14th

Bastille Day At Bistrot Gavroche

Are you coveting that Parisian holiday? Aren’t we all! Well this weekend, we can’t take you to Paris (sorry), but what we can do is bring you some of the best Parisian wine, cheese and food to curb your craving. Bastille Day or the French National Day, is the perfect chance to experience some of the best French cuisine Sydney has to offer and Bistrot Gavroche, one of Sydney’s newest French bistros, is celebrating with lobster bisque and elaborate seafood stands—a pretty good way to celebrate if you ask us. Throw in Gavroche’s special French revolution cocktail, the ‘Jacobin’, a delicious mix of watermelon juice, tomato juice and vodka, and you’re done! C’est la vie!

What: Bastille Day at Bistrot Gavroche
Where: Bistrot Gavroche - Level 1, 2-10 Kensington Street, Chippendale
When: Thursday 14 July, available for Lunch and Dinner Cost: $200 for two people, email to book

Friday 15th

Comedy(ish) Gala

The beloved Giant Dwarf theatre in Redfern is bringing together the string of brave comedians who are regulars at the Comedy(ish) events here in Sydney. Comedy(ish) (for those wondering) is where comedians nervously try out new jokes in a small room. It’s quite literally hours of entertainment. However, this time, things are different. This Friday, Giant Dwarf theatre is proudly featuring these very same comedians, in a much larger room, who will now be confidently performing ‘the bits they kept’ or their finished jokes for the Comedy(ish) Gala.

And in the words of Giant Dwarf: ‘it’s not even that much more expensive… it’d be rude not to come’.

What: Comedy(ish) Gala

Tickets are a must and include eight food and wine tastings, plus the chance to win a few prizes. Even better! And you’ll be pleased to hear that while you’re enjoying your food and wine—a little too much perhaps—all the proceeds will be going towards Ward Angels, a great local children’s charity. Now there’s no reason not to go!
