Clear your calendar because the highly-anticipated Good Food & Wine Show (GFWS) is back for its 21st year and honestly, our taste buds couldn't be more hyped. Slinging a bunch of new events, masterclasses and immersive experiences sure to ignite your senses, this year is set to be the best GFWS yet.
The lucky slickers over in Sydney are up first, with the show going down between Friday, June 25 and Sunday, June 27. But don’t stress team, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne will be getting their very own GFWS later in the year.
As always, the show will have a strong focus on celebrating the local producers, winemakers and the hospitality sector of each city. Expect curated wines from surrounding regions, live demos from local chefs in the Kitchen by Harris Scarfe, and a new Eat Local Restaurant Pop-Up by TheFork.
Those partial to a little cheese and vino will be well catered for of course. Enjoy an intimate Wine Selectors Tasting Room experience, or stroll your way down Cheese Lane, or take a trip via the Smelly Cheese Project. With more than 600 wines to choose from (yes, you read that right) there’s sure to be a sip to satisfy everyone.
And would you believe it, that’s not all. This year the GFWS is taking your tipple tasting to the next level with three insane pop-up experiences, each dedicated to their own spirit. First stop, the Glenfiddich Whisky Wanderer, a 1972 vintage Leyland bus that has been lovingly converted into a luxurious whisky lounge. Here you can enjoy a sensory food and whisky pairing, premium private whisky consultation and more.
On the other hand, gin fanatics will want to pull up a seat at the Hendricks Cucumber Airstream, where the tonic is chilled and the G&T vibes are flowing. Meanwhile, cocktail lovers will enjoy taking a sip from the Monkey Shoulder Shaker—spoiler, it’s a cement spinning cocktails, and we’re totally cool with that.
If you’re keen to get on the tools, the Fever-Tree team is teaching the art of mixing with masterclasses like ‘Around the World in 4 Gin and Tonics’ and the ‘The Dark Art of Mixing’ hosted by the Gin Queen. They’re also recruiting some of the city’s best local bartenders for a special one-off class.
And if that’s not enough, satisfy those belly rumbles at the English Garden, with an array of UK cheeses, scones, cream and jams to sample. The Good Food Village will also fill you up with a selection of artisan products from small Australian producers—think truffles, small-batch honey and much more.
Plus see all your fave Aussie chefs showing you how to make their everyday entertaining recipes live on stage in the Kitchen by Harris Scarfe.
