Just when we thought shopping couldn’t get any better (whoops, guilty pleasure), Broadway went and dropped a cool $55 million on a revamp which includes an Eataly inspired food court to bring us, and most importantly, our bellies Merchants of Ultimo.
As if the addition of Sephora wasn’t reason enough to have us spending hours on end in Sydney’s newest shopping centre, the food court now means we will literally never want to leave.
So what are these merchants actually selling? Heading up the project is George Michael who’s also behind the CBD’s Bacco, Mero Mero and Janus. The food court will Sydney’s own mini version of the famous Eataly, otherwise known as one of our favourite places ever and also the world’s largest Italian marketplace, offering multiple stalls from an organic salad bar, a bread and olive providore, for your green Sicilian and truffle oil pleasure as well as one exclusively for rotisserie meats.
There’ll also be wood fired pizzas on offer with the help of David Cowrill of Da Mario, and even a dessert bar headed up by ex-Rockpool pastry apprentice, Brendan Dewar.
Expect 40 new store openings in total at the newlook Broadway, with the Merchants of Ultimo set to open this September.
Word to the wise guys, when this place opens it is officially cheat day.
