In wonderful news for everyone out there sipping their way through iso, Sydney is now home to a Wes Anderson-inspired bottle shop and candy bar.
Dreamt up by the legends and connoisseurs of all things film at Golden Age Cinema and Bar, the brand new bottlo has been dubbed “Bottle Rocket”—named after one of Wes’ earlier films (it's a movie about a heist gone haywire starring the Wilson brothers and Robert Musgrave).
As for what Bottle Rocket will be stocking, you can expect an aesthetically delightful line up of booze and candy.
Wines are all organic, biodynamic and natural drops; you’ll find craft beers and Golden Age’s own small-batch bottled cocktails in double sizes. Pick from classics like an espresso martini, Negroni or a Tommy’s margarita, as well as riffs on the originals like a sloe rose Negroni, and Wes-themed highballs like a “Team Zissou” with Campari, limoncello and Capi blood orange soda, and a “Double Hanzo” with yuzu Sake, Prosecco and Massenez Grapefruit.
From the candy bar, you can order Golden Age’s iconic Messina gelato choc tops (flavours include vanilla with “space rocks”, macadamia and salted caramel with white chocolate), their house-made popcorn, peanuts in shell, lolly bags or boxes of Japanese Pocky.
Can’t decide? Pick one of the movie-themed combo packs. “The Life Aquatic” combo will set you up with aforementioned Team Zissou highballs, some Old Bay-spiced popcorn and a lolly bag packed with sea creatures (chunky sour sharks, rainbow fish and octopus).
As for Bottle Rocket's logistics, these guys are offering same-day delivery for Sydney metro, the Inner West and Inner East if you order before 12pm. Delivery will set you back $5, with free delivery on orders over $100. Delivery is available every day except Sunday.
So what are you waiting for? Find the Zero to your Agatha, the Margot to your Richie or the Sam to your Suzie, fire up some classic Wes and order yourself some booze and sweets.
And here's our guide to creating an epic at-home cinema.
