Sydneysiders it’s time to get busy (minds out of the gutter). It might be cold AF outside but that doesn’t mean the best city in Australia is quieting down. From the long awaited arrival of Mister Fitz (oh yes, we’re talking those ice-cream sandwiches currently saturating your feed), to four hatted chefs battling it out to be the best on plate (see what we did there?).
Hot tip: prepare accordingly for the food coma coming you way, that means get your stretchy clothes out of the wash and ready to go.
Mister Fitz Ice Cream Sandwich Pop Up
The brains behind Doughnut Time (aka Damian Griffiths) is bringing Brisbane’s beloved Mister Fitz ice-cream sandwiches to Sydney—ICYMI this is a really big deal. Mister Fitz is renowned for its adventurous flavours, like the Gimme Macklemore—picture a chocolate cookie sandwich, with a big scoop of s’mores ice-cream and hot chocolate sauce sitting in the middle. Mister Fitz’s opens alongside Doughnut Time in Myer Sydney, in a custom Alpine Village complete with ice-skating rink (thanks for the hook ups Vivid). Warm options will also be available, here’s looking at you unicorn crumbs. We don’t want to give too much away—you’ll have to head down IRL to find out what that means.

Negroni Week Launch Party At Palmer & Co.
Negroni Week is hitting Sydney on the 5 June, and we know where you can head to enjoy the best of this classic cocktail. To kick off the week, our favourite secret prohibition bar, Palmer & Co., is throwing the launch party, thanks to Campari and the Merivale Group. They’ll be serving up three twists on the classic Negroni, courtesy of Palmer & Co. (duh), J&M, and Charlie Parker’s, who’ll be battling it out for the top Negroni gong on the night. There’ll be a live six-piece band, raffle of exclusive Campari prizes (who doesn’t love a raffle?), complimentary charcuterie and aperitivo (now we’re talking). The Negroni Week celebrations will continue at J&M on Tuesday evening with live jazz and swing sounds, and Charlie Parker’s on Wednesday with vinyl spinning all night. Plus, $1 from all Negronis sold during the week will be donated to the Latham Fund. Head here for the deets.

Catalina Winter Special
The Catalina Winter Special has come to your rescue against June’s sudden chill, with a seriously good winter special that’ll keep your belly warm all season. Each week Catalina will showcase a different main course from their A La Carte menu, and if the first instalment is anything to go by, winter is going to be damn tasty. First off the rank is this beauty: crispy skin cone bay barramundi, served on a bed of pipis, clams (now we’re talking), mussels, sweet braised leeks, avruga and lemon thyme veloute. Because there’s no such thing as too much seafood.

The Hunter Valley’s Annual Food Fight
The gloves are off (or should that be the oven mitts?), because it’s time for the 8th Annual Food Fight in Pokolbin. Hosted by Colin Fassnidge (MKR fans rejoice) and Matt Kemp of Q Station in Manly, four of Australia’s most renowned chefs will prepare one dish, and guests (that’s you guys) will vote for their fave. Each course will be paired with a Hunter Valley wine (obvs), and it’s even for a good cause. The food fight will raise money for the Brett Graham Scholarship, who provides young chefs with the opportunity to work with the man himself at his acclaimed London Michelin starred restaurant, The Ledbury.

Zac’s Table @ North Bondi Fish
North Bondi Fish is one of Sydney’s institutional seafood spots (the view doesn’t hurt either), and this week they’re launching a fortnightly series, Zac’s Table. Head chef Zac Skyes will serve up communal, share-style dinners focusing on sustainable and seasonal produce every other week and yes, you will want to take a seat at this table. Expect seafood favourites like fresh sashimi platters, steamed crab buns and crisp roast pork belly with black vinegar and chilli. Prepare yourself—this one is going to be delicious.
