This week it’s all about health. Because eating is always in the name of health, whether that’s mental, emotional or, ya’ know, actual physical health.
From a food and wellness talk to a six course beef and beer degustation, right through to mental health pods, it’s all happening. Here are five awesome things to do in Sydney this week.
Monday 16 October
Mental Health Pods
What if we could sit in a pod and walk out more calm, focused, and in a better headspace? As part of the Big Anxiety Festival, you can do just that. Two pods have been designed to help mental health and attention span, or more generally anyone who would benefit from a calming their farm (so all of us). Let’s be real, we could all do with some of that after a long day. More details here.
When: Monday 16 October to Saturday 21 October, 10am-5pm
Where: Riverside Theatre, Parramatta
Tuesday 17 October
Drag Bingo At The Bourbon
Looking for a night of glitter, laughs and bevvies? Of course you are. This Tuesday, drag queen Felicity Frockaccino is hosting drag bingo at The Bourbon so you can sip on a BBQ pork sour cocktail (yes it involves bacon and no we’re not kidding) whilst playing a few rounds of your fave primary school game. This is a guaranteed night of laughs and all ‘round good times, even if you don’t win.
When: Tuesday 17 October, 7pm
Where: The Bourbon, Potts Point
Wednesday 18 October
What Should I Eat?
If ‘what should I eat?’ isn’t the question you ask yourself every damn minute of the day, you’re doing life wrong. In all seriousness though, questioning your next meal is just as important as getting a dental check up—one is just MUCH more enjoyable than the other. This panel on food and wellness, led by Bachie’s own Tim Robards, author David Gillespie, and ultimate #fitspo ladies Michelle Bridges and Ellie Bullen, will teach you the difference between paleo, raw ‘till 4, high carb low fat and every other popular diet out there. Don’t worry—we’re as confused as you are and that’s what the Q&A session at the end is for. Grab your ticket here.
When: Wednesday 18 October, 6:30-8pm
Where: SMC Centre, CBD
The American Bar Pop-Up
The infamous American Bar from the London Savoy Hotel is coming to Sydney this week and it’s the best excuse we’ve got for mid week cocktails. We’ll be knocking back speciality cocktails like the Hanky Panky (vintage gin, Cinzano Rosso and Fernet Branca) and the Black Diamond (whisky, cold press coffee liqueur, Campari, Haeckels’ black diamond incense, and Lapsang Souchong syrup), then nibbling on all the snacks. Think stuffed olives and roasted broad beans to the soundtrack of a live piano performance. We know, we’re classy. More details here.
When: Wednesday 18 October & Thursday 19 October, from 6pm
Where: Eau de Vie
Cost: Free entry
Moo & Brew
Name a better duo than beef and beer and we’ll tell you how truly wrong you are. 4 Pines Brewing Co and Jack’s Creek Beef are joining forces this Wednesday to bring you a six-course degustation dinner with matching beers. Oh yeah, we want in on this. Consider hump day dinner sorted. More details here.
When: Wednesday 18 October
Where: Boilerhouse Restaurant & Bar, Q Station Manly
There's also a twilight food festival happening this summer.
