Five Awesome Things To Do In Sydney This Week

By Alice I'Anson - 26 Sep 2016

No matter what the weather does this week, we’ve got you sorted! Sydney is constantly coming up with fun ways for us to spend our time. It’s often hard to keep up with them all so we’ve made it easy for you. Check out these five awesome things to do this week in Sydney and we guarantee you’ll be the hippest of all your friends.

1. Quote Along Films at Dendy Newtown

We all have that one friend we avoid going to the movies with. We get it, you know every line in the film! Well lucky for us (and them) Dendy Newtown is adding a twist to their Cult Classics program showcasing highly quotable movies that audience members will be able to quote to, without ruining the film for the rest of us. Some of the films include, Wayne’s World, Mean Girls and Step Brothers. Suddenly Monday’s are starting to look pretty good.

Get the details here.

When: Mondays, 6.30pm to 8.30pm until 26 September
Where: Dendy Newtown, 261-263 King Street, Newtown
Cost: Adults: $12.00, Members: $10.00, Students: $8.50

2. Groove Therapy

It’s all about that feeling. Groove Therapy at 107 Projects in Redfern gives you a dance experience that’s actually designed to make you feel great about yourself. We know, the opposite to how your normally feel when you bust a move and everyone’s watching. It’s a fun way to look after your mind and activate those endorphins, so don’t freak out if you aren’t the most coordinated of humans. You’ll get there eventually, plus it leaves great room for improvement.

When: Tuesday’s 6-7pm until 30 September
Where: 107 Redfern Street, Redfern
Cost: $15

3. Silent Disco Ice Skating Festival

The combination of two of life’s most awesome things- ice skating and a silent disco. Yes, it is as fun as it sounds. This week long festival will have you releasing your inner child as you groove (and fall) to the music. Did we mention it’s free!? Because it is. Get in early for your 45 minute session because  it’s first in best dressed.

Get the details here.

When: Fri 23 Sept – Thurs 29 Sept, Ice Skating: 10am – 8pm and Silent Disco: 4pm – 8pm
Where: Central Park Mall
Cost: Free

4. Art After Hours: Late Night Laughs at AGNSW

Immerse yourself in Sydney’s art scene mid week at the Art Gallery of NSW’s Art After Hours. Watch artist Luke Cornish paint, then get ready to LOL at Andy Saunder’s tongue in cheek humour or check out Tarkovsky’s sci-fi classic Solaris.

Get the details here

When: Wednesday 5.30pm - 10pm 28 September
Where: Art Gallery Rd, The Domain, 2000
Cost: General admission to the gallery is free

5. Kale Spiracy

To eat meat or not to eat meat? That is the question. The Sydney Fringe Festival is bringing you a panel of experts who will demystify facts relating to sustainable farming and the environment. This isn’t just any old talk. Hosts, Egg of the Universe, will put on a sustainable 3 course vegan/vegetarian vs. meat food experience. You get to choose which path you want to eat along for the night and you might be surprised which way you go.

Get the details here.

When: Wednesday 28 September 2016, 6.30pm to 9.30pm
