We want our last week of September to go out with a bang. That’s why this week is all about bringing back the 80s, a tonne of espresso martinis, dirty minded card games.
Here are five awesome things to do in Sydney this week.
Monday 1 October
THE WORLD’S LARGEST ESPRESSO MARTINI
To celebrate International Coffee Day, Tia Maria and Vittoria Coffee are bringing you the event of your dreams. This would be a dream come true for anyone who drinks coffee through an IV drip. Taking place at Sydney's Cruise Bar, the cocktail will stand over two metres in a custom-made glass and hold 600 litres of the good stuff i.e. around 5000 espresso martinis. The shenanigans are all happening in alignment with International Coffee Day which will also mean free coffees between 10am-12pm. For more details, head here.
When: Monday, 1 October, 12-4pm and 4-8pm
Where: Cruise Bar, The Rocks
Cost: Free (each ticket includes one Espresso Martini cocktail per person)
80S CULT CLASSICS
Every Monday, Dendy Cinemas is bringing us the best movies from the 80s and we couldn’t be more nostalgic. This week’s special showing is one of the best movies of the century, (in my opinion), the first Back to the Future. Tie up your Nike’s and get in your DeLorean and jet on over to Newtown for this showing. If you’ve never seen this, don’t worry we forgive you… as long as you go now. For tickets, jump over here.
When: Monday, 1 October, 10-12pm and 6:30-8:30pm
Where: Dendy Cinemas, Newtown
Cost: $8 - $10 per person
Tuesday 2 October
TRIVIA NIGHT AT ‘89
Put all of your useless (SORRY, I mean useful…) knowledge about the pop culture universe to the test with this trivia night. The 1989 bar brings us back to the best time in our lives and you’ll thank God that you spent 100 hours at the arcade as a kid. There are bar tabs up for the winners as well as ‘crap’ movie giveaways (umm ok?). Happy hour is from 5pm till 7pm with trivia starting right after. For more info, head here.
When: Tuesday, 2 October, 5-11:30pm
Where: 1989 Arcade Bar & Kitchen, Newtown
Wednesday 3 October
CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY
We can all remember a time when we’re sitting out in our backyards at 3am playing cards against humanity. We’ve had some of the best laughs of our lifetime playing that game so when there’s a competition happening, bring it on! This night will be team vs. team so bring your best players out and win with your dirtiest punch lines. Jump over here for more details.
When: Wednesday, 3 October, 8-10pm
Where: The Unicorn Hotel, Paddington
SODA GOT SOUL
Our beloved Soda Factory is giving us a whole night dedicated to everything full of Soul. Live tunes with free entry, I mean what’s not to love? Plussss there’s $10 buckets of fried chicken and $1 wings (SOLD). Hear some of the best soul music around inspired by the greats of Stevie Wonder, Aretha. So, let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on.
When: Wednesday, 3 October, 5-3am
