13 Free Things To Do In Sydney This October

Daylight savings is ending, but obviously our money savings are still going strong. Well… we try. If you’re like us and you haven’t been great at saving your paycheck, boy do we have some events for you this month. Your bank account will be smiling from all these freebies. So, with that extra cash you’ve saved, go and splurge on a chai tea latte or acai bowl.

Here are the best free things to do in Sydney this October.


This is something that you immediately think of in October. Beer and lots of it. So, get out your lederhosen and rustle up that beer mug because Oktoberfest is coming to Bondi Junction this month. Think of giant pretzels and washing them down with speciality German beers. For more info, head here.

Sweethearts Rooftop is aptly named because they legends are bringing us some cult classics on their big screen this month. The Devil Wears Prada, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski and so so much more. If you love food and drinking then head over to Dove & Olive for some trivia madness to spice up your Tuesday. With over twenty food stalls each night this one is definitely something you don’t want to miss. Hey Potter heads, get ready to Slytherin-to UNSW Roundhouse for a night of quizzing your faultless knowledge of the biggest series in the world. Watch the movies to remind yourself of all the Horcruxes, spells and Patronus’ you can think of. If that’s not motivating enough, then maybe this’ll help. There is a $300 bar tab up for grabs. The most talked about event of the west is back and bigger than ever. They’ve got curated eats, chilled beats and art installations, something for everyone. Our favourite seaside activity is coming to our shores once again for their 22nd anniversary this October. Sculptures by the Sea is our favourite way to spend the weekend, strolling along the Bondi to Tamarama coastline and getting a rockin’ tan in the process. For more info, head here.

Regardless if you’re a pet-owner or not, you need to run over to Surry Hills for this glorious celebration of our furry friends. Filled with stalls with all you can possibly want for your fur babies as well as shelters for those who are interested in adopting a new family member. Missing vivid? This Light the City festival is going to be the solution. Mrs Macquaries Road will be closed for one night only and will be host to special lighting effects. This is the biggest party event of the month with the 2016 Bachelorette Georgia Love hosting the launch of Swim Co. Australia’s summer line.
