Go Retro With Super Mario At Sydney’s New Underground Library

Gone are the days where an outing to the local library was an excursion solely for the bookworms. Zetland has gained an underground library which goes far beyond the ol’ loan-a-book situation. Yep, this epic new hotspot offers video games, baby-grand pianos, bass guitars, robot kits, GoChip beams and epic floor to ceiling art installations.

It’s a pretty darn spectacular new hotspot in the heart of Green Square that could be likened to a state of the art museum, with a subterranean jungle-like garden, café, open-air amphitheatre and 6-storey glass tour. And, of course, what library doesn’t house a bunch of mind-boggling art installations? High Water is a series of massive LED screens that interpret local weather patterns in abstract colours, and Cloud Nation features a vintage aircraft hung high above which is based on Jonathan Swift’s novel Gulliver’s Travels.

You can also expect a striking glass entry pyramid, a reading room with floor to ceiling colour coordinated novels, music rooms with all the bells and whistles and a high-tech computer lab. Yep, this joint is certainly one for the books.

Whether you hit up this futuristic library for a spot of quiet reading, a coffee and some glorious free Wi-Fi or to rent out one of the many video consoles to get your Super Mario World on in your own abode, you’re going to want to check out this local haunt. For more info, head on over here.
