In our humble, chicken loving opinions, fried chicken is underrated and honestly – we think that needs to be rectified and so does Sydney. After the success of Birds of Redfern, the festival has moved on into the carpark at Public House Petersham, or at least they will later this month.
They’ve renamed themselves ‘Birds of the Inner West’ especially for the occasion and this time, some of Sydney’s heaviest fried chicken hitters are joining the party. You can expect to get Sticky Fingers at Butter, with four juicy chicken ribs slathered in a sweet sticky sauce, or to bask in all of the winged glory over at the Belly Bao stall. Down N’ Out will be showing off a fresh spin on classics like the DNO Zinga Burger and their Chocolate Fried Chicken (yes, chocolate) with candied double smoked speck and maple.
Other hot shots in attendance will be Public House Petersham (obvs), Mary’s and The Erskineville Hotel, so there’ll be plenty to go around. In the way of drinks, Cake Wines will be there to tend to your every wine-related need and there will also be a pretty solid line up of craft beers as well.
Birds of the Inner West will have two sessions; 12pm – 3pm and 4pm – 7pm and you can get your tickets here.
